Did you read from the Tanak the practice of taking a nazarite vow?

Num. 6:13: 'Now this is the law of the Nazarite when the days of his separation are fulfilled. He shall bring the offering to the doorway of the Tent of Meeting.'

Num. 6:14: 'He shall present his offering to Yahveh; one male lamb a year old without defect for a Burnt Offering, and one ewe-lamb a year old without defect for a Sin Offering, and one ram without defect for a Peace Offering,'

Num. 6:15: 'and a basket of unleavened cakes of fine flour mixed with oil and unleavened wafers spread with oil, along with their Grain Offering and their Wine Offering.'

Num. 6:16: 'Then the priest shall present them before Yahveh and shall offer his Sin Offering and his Burnt Offering.'

Num. 6:17: 'He shall also offer the ram for a sacrifice of Peace Offerings to Yahveh together with the basket of unleavened cakes. The priest shall likewise offer its Grain Offering and its Wine Offering.'

jeeez louise!! He says that he performed the nazarite vow rquirements!! I didn't write it, it's in the scriptures. He performed the practice. To end the practice required the sacrifices noted above !!

Paul knew that Law of Moses, much better than many who take on the name "Christian" or even "Jew" these days it seems.

To understand that Law of Moses requires that one first study the Torah in full, completely and exhaustively. And not resort to all the junk that gets 'taught' by willing teachers of subversion such as many a Rabbi even in Jesus's day thought they had it all figured out.

The entire purpose of the Law of Moses was to so that it is impossible in this flesh and blood being born of a human mother and a human father, all who have a human mother and a human father are going to sooner or later break any law that would ever be given. Just as our super parents, Adam and Eve transgressed a single commandment so will all that are born of human father and human mother. Period. It does not matter what that law would be, mankind will break it eventually individually and collectively.

The Law of Moses is good if a man lives always within it and in all obedience to it... it is Good. But it is not VERY Good.

What LAW was Adam and Eve under? And even all those peoples before the Flood of Noah, what Law were they under? That would be of the Law of Adam.

What Law was given by God to Noah to obey and to teach his children (all the rest of mankind down to even Jacob/Israel himself) to obey? The Law of Noah.

What Law was given by God to Abraham to obey himself and instruct his own children and descendents to obey? This is the Law of Abraham.

Once the children of Israel had gone through a few generations, then a Law was given to that that fewer restricted them even above the prohibitions and prescriptions of the Law of Noah and/or the Law of Abraham? At the Exodus, even before Mt. Sinai there were commandments given to the Children of Israel, and then at Mt. Sinai, and elsewhere, and at the crossing of the Jordon into Cananna.. these all are the Law of Moses.

And then a Greater Prophet than Moses came to the much later descendants of the Children of Israel, an with a New Prophet comes a New Law, a new codice, revising and amending just as the Law of Noah was revised and amended at the time of the Law of Moses, so too would that Law of Moses be revised and amended and yet for all of this the Law of God was in place...

WIth Jesus Christ came a New Law, indeed, the Law of Christ.

All of these are the Law of God: The Law of Adam, the Law of Noah, the Law of Moses, the Law of Christ; all of these are of and within the Law of God. Without understanding this one cannot ever come to understand the overall Law of God sufficiently to successfully apply the law of God.

You shall love the Lord Your GOD with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Upon these two Law headings hang all the prophets and laws of God.

Its a matter of Venue and Legal Jurisdiction. In former times the Children of Israel were under the Venue and Legal Jurisdiction of the Law of Moses, and the Gentile at that time were under the overall umbrella of the Law of God. The Law of Moses was a distinct Venue and Legal Codice within the over all Law of God, and was set forth for a very special purpose. Even at that time the Law of Moses was given forth, the Gentiles remained underneath the Law of Noah. It had not been thrown away, but it was still "Law of God".

Jesus himself spoke of the Leaven of the Pharisees, the over extension and expansion of the Law of Moses, its Commandments, Statutes, and Ordinances.. extending and expanding it into a overflowing tar-pit.

I'm not sure why so many Christians are kicking up a fuss over this.

It seems obvious enough to me that the sanitary and dietary laws would still apply. Christ's sacrifice did not change the laws of physics.

For example, the old testament laws forbid urinating or defecating in or near the waters that people draw to drink from. We know that breaking this law causes cholera.

I don't see anyone arguing that we should dispense with septic tanks and just dump all the waste into our wells instead, yet people champion eating the flesh of animals that we've been told are too filthy to be fit for human consumption.

Unclean animals are a cesspool of parasites and disease. You really do eat them at your own risk. Chronic health problems and premature death are the result. This has not changed.

Numbers 6:1-6
The Nazirite

1 AHYH said to Moses, 2 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'If a man or woman wants to make a special vow, a vow of separation to AHYH as a Nazirite, 3 he must abstain from wine and other fermented drink and must not drink vinegar made from wine or from other fermented drink. He must not drink grape juice or eat grapes or raisins. 4 As long as he is a Nazirite, he must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, not even the seeds or skins.

5 " 'During the entire period of his vow of separation no razor may be used on his head. He must be holy until the period of his separation to the LORD is over; he must let the hair of his head grow long. 6 Throughout the period of his separation to YHWH he must not go near a dead body. 7 Even if his own father or mother or brother or sister dies, he must not make himself ceremonially unclean on account of them, because the symbol of his separation to AHYH is on his head. 8 Throughout the period of his separation he is consecrated to the LORD.

So as we see, the first step in taking the Vow of a Nazirite is to (vs. 5) shave your head. Then during the entire period of the vow you cannot cut your hair at all, the hair that grows during this time is your gift to YHWH as you go to the Temple and cut it off at the end of the vow and offer it as a sacrifice to AHYH.


Did Paul take this vow? Did he shave his head?

Acts 18:18

18 Paul stayed on in Corinth for some time. Then he left the brothers and sailed for Syria, accompanied by Priscilla and Aquila. Before he sailed, he had his hair cut off at Cenchrea because of a vow he had taken.

Paul was not the only one, many of the early sons of AHYH took this vow in obedience to the Torah:


Acts 21:23-24

23so do what we tell you. There are four men with us who have made a vow. 24Take these men, join in their purification rites and pay their expenses, so that they can have their heads shaved. Then everybody will know there is no truth in these reports about you, but that you yourself are living in obedience to the law.


See how obedient Paul and all these early believers were to the VERY LAW the Christian Church abolished. Interesting isn't it? Back to the point... did Paul offer sacrifices in the Temple... YES. Upon completion of the vow he and others took of a Nazirite, they had to go to the Temple and cut their hair and offer the proper sacrifices in order to "end" their period of purification and consecration to AHYH:
