Numbers 6:1-6
The Nazirite

1 AHYH said to Moses, 2 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'If a man or woman wants to make a special vow, a vow of separation to AHYH as a Nazirite, 3 he must abstain from wine and other fermented drink and must not drink vinegar made from wine or from other fermented drink. He must not drink grape juice or eat grapes or raisins. 4 As long as he is a Nazirite, he must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, not even the seeds or skins.

5 " 'During the entire period of his vow of separation no razor may be used on his head. He must be holy until the period of his separation to the LORD is over; he must let the hair of his head grow long. 6 Throughout the period of his separation to YHWH he must not go near a dead body. 7 Even if his own father or mother or brother or sister dies, he must not make himself ceremonially unclean on account of them, because the symbol of his separation to AHYH is on his head. 8 Throughout the period of his separation he is consecrated to the LORD.

So as we see, the first step in taking the Vow of a Nazirite is to (vs. 5) shave your head. Then during the entire period of the vow you cannot cut your hair at all, the hair that grows during this time is your gift to YHWH as you go to the Temple and cut it off at the end of the vow and offer it as a sacrifice to AHYH.


Did Paul take this vow? Did he shave his head?

Acts 18:18

18 Paul stayed on in Corinth for some time. Then he left the brothers and sailed for Syria, accompanied by Priscilla and Aquila. Before he sailed, he had his hair cut off at Cenchrea because of a vow he had taken.

Paul was not the only one, many of the early sons of AHYH took this vow in obedience to the Torah:


Acts 21:23-24

23so do what we tell you. There are four men with us who have made a vow. 24Take these men, join in their purification rites and pay their expenses, so that they can have their heads shaved. Then everybody will know there is no truth in these reports about you, but that you yourself are living in obedience to the law.


See how obedient Paul and all these early believers were to the VERY LAW the Christian Church abolished. Interesting isn't it? Back to the point... did Paul offer sacrifices in the Temple... YES. Upon completion of the vow he and others took of a Nazirite, they had to go to the Temple and cut their hair and offer the proper sacrifices in order to "end" their period of purification and consecration to AHYH:


Acts 21:26

26The next day Paul took the men and purified himself along with them. Then he went to the temple to give notice of the date (the Nazarite vow is for a set period) when the days of purification (the duration of the Nazarite Vow) would end and the offering would be made for each of them.

Num. 6:13: 'Now this is the law of the Nazarite when the days of his separation are fulfilled. He shall bring the offering to the doorway of the Tent of Meeting.'

Num. 6:14: 'He shall present his offering to Yahveh; one male lamb a year old without defect for a Burnt Offering, and one ewe-lamb a year old without defect for a Sin Offering, and one ram without defect for a Peace Offering,'

Num. 6:15: 'and a basket of unleavened cakes of fine flour mixed with oil and unleavened wafers spread with oil, along with their Grain Offering and their Wine Offering.'

Num. 6:16: 'Then the priest shall present them before Yahveh and shall offer his Sin Offering and his Burnt Offering.'

Num. 6:17: 'He shall also offer the ram for a sacrifice of Peace Offerings to Yahveh together with the basket of unleavened cakes. The priest shall likewise offer its Grain Offering and its Wine Offering.'

Num. 6:18: 'The Nazarite shall then shave his dedicated head of hair at the doorway of the Tent of Meeting, and take the dedicated hair of his head and put it on the fire which is under the sacrifice of Peace Offerings.'

Num. 6:19: 'The priest shall take the ram's shoulder when it has been boiled, and one unleavened cake out of the basket and one unleavened wafer, and shall put them in the hands of the Nazarite after he has shaved his dedicated hair.'

Num. 6:20: 'Then the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before Yahveh. It is holy for the priest, together with the breast offered by waving and the thigh offered by lifting up. And afterward the Nazarite may drink wine.'

Num. 6:21: 'This is the law of the Nazarite who vows his offering to Yahveh according to his separation, in addition to what else he can afford, according to his vow which he takes, so he shall do according to the law of his separation.'

NO SHOW ME PAUL WAS SACRIFICING ANIMALS AS YOU SAID

PAUL PURIFIED HIMSELF AND THE OTHERS WITH HIM BEFORE HE WENT INTO THE TEMPLE WHERE THEY WERE PERFORMING THEIR OFFERING

HE ENTERED THEIR TEMPLE BECAUSE HE HAD TO GO PREACH MESSIAH TO THEM FOR THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF MESSIAH

if paul was doing animal sacrifice or doing animal sacrifice in acts 21. why did the jews want to kill him?

BECAUSE HE WENT IN AND SPOKE AGAINST SUCH PRACTICE

22 What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.

23 Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;

24 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.

25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

The Law of Moses requires animal sacrifices. If Paul was telling the Gentiles to obey the Law of Moses, wouldn't he have to show them how to properly sacrifice animals? Or was Paul telling them to obey just some of the Law of Moses and ignore some other parts?

Paul told us that we are under a new covenant now, the laws of moses were fulfilled in the death of the messiah, Jesus Christ. No more temple sacrifices, our bodies are the temple and Jesus was the completed sacrifice, the fulfillment of prophecy and the final sacrifice for all sins of those who believe in Him.

It Is Finished........He said when He died on the cross.

He wasn't lying.
