What do men seek in woman?

I was the June Cleaver in a bikini. Like the poster described a few posts before me.... stayed home, raised great kids, took care of the house, cooked, cleaned, etc. After 17 years of marriage he dumped me for a woman who treats him like dirt. Go figure. My dating experiences of the last 6 years are laughable (now). I have decided to give up dating and remain single. This is a very interesting thread. Maybe I can gain a little insight into the male mind too.

I think it's important to find a partner that will uphold a promise, no matter the cost. I will quote a friend of mine, "To love is to pay the cost."

Someone who would never take another person's heart, another person's time, for granted. These types of qualities are another aspect of having good character and morals, which is the most important thing. Inner beauty is so much more attractive than skin beauty.

amazing thread..restored my faith. i find it hard to meet guys for a lot of the same reasons that you listed. my early thirties has crept up on me , i had a relationship that didnt work and for the last three years I have been single apart from holiday romance with someone much younger. i live in rural place and i have been traveling the world to remote places so it is no wonder really I have not met any one closer to my age in a long while. What I have.


I wish I could multiply it, yet women cant seem to get along with other women.

i am actually going to really pay attention to the things you have said too. I love working out and i want to push to a higher level with that. i think everything else is in order so i will just keep on smiling , working hard, learning, having fun and adventure in the mean time.

I like someone with the following qualities

Patient, very important
Forgiving - able to move on, does not hold grudges, does not act like a suck
loving and supportive
sense of humour
no drugs
slow temper
nice butt
long hair
good hygiene
smart - at least reasonably
not vapid or fake
not a ballbuster
family minded
employed or had a career in the past
has outside interests
doesn't cheat

Now for what I usually end up with ( After it appears at the beginning that they have most of what I'm looking for)

headcase
quick tempered
impatient
nuts - seriously
reduction in hygiene, looking presentable - more the "comfortable look"
act like a suck
ballbuster

I see lots of men who says this and again it is mostly the "beauty queen"

It is sad to know both men/woman are indeed searching for a relationship yet can't seem to find the other.

On both sides we have the peeps that has ruined it for all the others.

Fidelity. If we've agreed to be exclusive, we're exclusive.

Intelligent. Can't have a boring woman.

Attractive. The supermodel thing is interesting for maybe five minutes; real attractiveness is something many more women have than realize it. Too many cover up natural beauty with makeup. If I tell you you're beautiful take the compliment as genuine no matter how fat you think you are.

Accepting. I don't need to be changed. The old line is that women want to change their man and men want their woman to stay the same, but women change and men don't. And should I choose to change do support me in it.

Real. No fake tits or facelifts or botox or any of that shit. Now if you have a prosthesis or reconstructive surgery that's different but straight up cosmetic is offputting.

Shared interests. Whatever they are. Pets, sports, exercise, birdfeeding, science, sexual proclivities, doom, drugs, etc.

Sexuality. Through any other life bullshit damaging the relationship or the individuals in it, a healthy sex life renews the bond between a man and woman and provides the couple the strength together to get through it.


And to sound like a total bastard but truthful guys out there will agree, a woman's enjoyment of and enthusiatic attitude towards sex is much more than 51% of it. A shared great time in the sack (or effort towards having one) more than makes up for any lack of cooking, cleaning, laundry or any other slaved-over aspect of 1950s domesticity. Frigidity is a deal-killer unless you're looking for some metrosexual limpwrist to trade makeup tips with. I don't think I could be with a woman unable to orgasm.

Your last paragraph had me laughing. The part I highlighted, I can relate, I have had people compliment me and all I think is "yeah, what do you want from me". Love the fact you like natural no make up. I hate make up. I pretty sure a man invented :)
