Not trying to be, but I see so many kids who are coddled and enabled by their parents, who think they are special little geniuses for no very good reason. A whole generation of losers who can't even look another person in the eye and are addicted to electronic gadjets, computers, iPhones, and video games. These kids need tough love because its a tough old world out there and their parents aren't doing them any favors by enabling their weakness and patheticness.

Perhaps the OP's kid is the one-in-a-million who really is a "brilliant tormented genius" but based on what I have seen chances are he's just another spoiled kid who needs to learn the value of real work.
