It can be a matter of imminent short term survival (kick the can down the road). Quoting: farmerguy People pointed out their hiding families to the Nazis for an extra ration of food. Hunger is the ultimate tool and in the future you will see this everywhere. 1 gun = 1 ration of food. Turn someone in who has a gun = 2 rations of food. There will come a time when people will gladly turn over any weapon they can...just so they can eat. Last Edited by PIR on 12/27/2012 08:20 AM |

From now on, US citizens will feel the lies and manipulations of their CORPORATIONS on their own skin. Same lies and Think Thank strategy that people in Serbia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria were feeling on their skin. During the NATO invasions in the Balkans we had this CREATURE KRISTIAN AMAMPURE (KAZARIAN JEW) TELLING LIE AFTER LIE, DEMONIZING SERBS IN ORDER TO JUSTIFY NATO INVASION ON THIS COUNTY. WE HERE IN MACEDONIA , HAD EVEN ONE SAYING: "IF CNN TELLS YOU THAT TOMORROW WILL BE SUNNY, THERE WILL BE RAIN FOR SURE" Americans , YOU HAVE SERIOUS ISSUES WITH YOUR ELITES. They anticipate economical crisis in your country, THEREFORE THEY WANT TO TAKE YOUR WEAPONS IN ORDER T H E Y TO BE SAFE. However, this Universe has strict rules of justice and action - reaction laws. Back here in OZ a few years later we got our guns took away but mostly they were rifles 'cause hand guns never really were in vogue. In fact gun culture was almost non existent so it wasn't no big deal getting "disarmed" But of course if you want a gun of any variety.. a whisper and a fist full of dollars will satiate that desire but most of us live on the coast and a gun is something you keep in your quiver of surfboards. [link to en.wikipedia.org] In his farewell address, U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower, when speaking about the military-industrial complex stated: Until the latest of our world conflicts, the United States had no armaments industry. American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations. |

Have you ever took the time to think that maybe these are people that either do not use guns and have no need for them, along with people who have too many guns and are trading the extras in. Along with what some of the other glprs have stated, are stolen guns or broken ones. It's not like they are taking our guns and we have no protection. They are just taking a very small amount that people have stocked. Gun sales are BOOMING in the U.S., so to assume that we are trading our rights away is absurd. |

ehecatl User ID: 30482357 Mexico 12/27/2012 09:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's fun to see the pretext of a GLP story to see all the comments, and I agree with pretty much all of them on this thread, but this program has been going on since I was young in SoCal, at least 30 years I think, and even though there are so called "long lines" of people turning in guns for whatever reason under the sun, probably many "borrowed" or "stolen" guns as pointed out (like coming from people (or agencies) who have access to them for "free"), however statistically those people and the number of guns turned in are an infinitesimally tiny speck compared to the number of gun owners and guns in SoCal. It has always been a propaganda opportunity and really nothing more. It's a tempest in a teapot story that really means nothing IMO, but carry on. Imagine that they had a "buy back" program for old television sets. They would get lines of people waiting to turn in their old televisions for even some small amount of compensation. It would not mean that those people no longer watch TV though. Good Morning All! I hope for a slow day at GLP Last Edited by ehecatl on 12/27/2012 09:53 AM |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 30708042 United States 12/27/2012 09:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So it has started..... Quoting: Citizenperth ABC report <snip> Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa brought forward the date of a gun buyback event following the December 14 shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, that left 26 people dead. The Boxing Day buyback saw 1,016 weapons, including 41 rifles, handed over. Gun owners could take their arms to one of two locations in return for a $100 grocery store gift card for handguns, rifles and shotguns, or a $200 card for automatic weapons. "Cities and states must join with the federal government to do everything we can, as quickly as we can, to keep our community safe and to get deadly weapons off our streets," Mr Villaraigosa said. "It is absolutely critical to provide Angelinos with concrete actions they can take today to make our city safer tomorrow." Los Angeles' police chief Charlie Beck said 8,000 weapons had been handed in since the program started in 2009. Long lines of cars formed as Los Angeles gun owners turned in weapons. Sergeant Rudy Lopez from the LAPD said the fact that police were asking no questions was a key incentive. "See that? That's a silencer," he said, pointing to an assault weapon. "That's illegal. We didn't say anything." <end snip> yeah, long lines of cars..... fiscal?.... hungry?..... or is it all lovely pre-nation wide buy-back propoganda? lol More.... [link to www.abc.net.au] A silencer is NOT illegal in most states if you have the proper tax stamp and do the paper work. In Douchebaggery states like Cali its illegal. $200 for an "automatic weapon"....my ass....I'm sure they'd like to take in an auto for $200 I think that the press willfully misrepresents semi-autos as "automatic" weapons. |

Lips Of Lucifer User ID: 30769026 South Africa 12/27/2012 10:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So when do they start disarming the criminals? Shouldn't the Authorities try doing something about that? How you may ask? Put all gangs in the US on the Terrorism list and give them the same rights as the inmates at the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp. Approve the use of torture to gain Intel against the War on Urban Terrorism and get the MSM to dehumanize all gang members Also create concentration camps for convicted violent felons and white collar criminals, that are run on a military basis...One meal a day and work the criminal to death. Make prison a brutal hardship awaiting any potential Criminal. There will be no time or inclination to do anything but survive...Also allow one razor blade with the evening soup for those looking for an easy way out (control prison populations)...the prisoner can also be used for science experiments, blood donations and body part donors. ...the crime rate will drop and the legal gun owners won't need a gun for anything but sport...but no...the fucking Authorities will disarm law-abiding citizens as the economy crumbles and violence increases...crazy shit we vote for |
ehecatl User ID: 30482357 Mexico 12/27/2012 10:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've always got the impression with these programs that they tacitly hope that guns even get stolen to be turned in. That would place the advantage to those who are better able to protect their goods, ie, silently allowing them to be stolen and turned in favors the upper levels who protect their things better, in relation to those who do not know how to properly protect their shit. There is a certain logic to that. Last Edited by ehecatl on 12/27/2012 10:15 AM |
