I pay almost $8 a gal for organic milk now.

Don't be so sure ... one of my employees (a minimalist to a certain degree) lives off of RAW MILK and non-commerial BREAD.

The organic milk in my area went from $4.00 a gallon over the past year or so and current is $5.80 per gallon.

This exposes what is soo deeply wrong with american politics. The 1949 Farm bill is a part of the central planning via subsidies and tax code foundation THAT HAS NOT BEEN ALTERED IN 60 YEARS.

Congress has two jobs. Declare War. Balance a budget. We live in a bizzaro world where they never declare war but run the budget process like we are still fighting Hitler.

Think of how many brilliant scholars have thought about this issue in the last 60 years. Think about how many fortunes have been made. Think about how many politicians have had statues and oil paintings made in their honor. Think about how many beggars lice tax rules are attached to IRS agents in the field. Think about how we can not possible run a monetary policy without bubble after bubble after bubble. Think about what type of science, culture, medicine and awareness could have been part of a foundational peacetime economy golden age. Think about how many people responsible have lived and died without altering the paradigm even in the slightest.

Nope. We now need to have a "currency war" against china. People are getting bored with the existing wars on: terra, drugs, poverty, women, MENA, illiteracy, trade, and milk prices.

just buy raw milk directly from the farmer. Its so much better for you anyway!

What did they use for gas lights in the old days? What kind of "gas" was that?

I have been using almond mailk as my coffee creamer for the past few months and it works great for me. The creamers they sell in the stores now have questionable ingredients.

Another thing about the hormones is that they cause the cows to get mastitis in their udders and then the udders get infected (which is very painful, I've had it), but the factory farmers don't take these sick cows off the milking line, they milk them even though blood and puss come out because the pasturization process kills the germs. Still, just the thought of the puss and blood in the milk made me sick.
If you drink cows milk, make sure they do not use hormones, and they are a smaller farm who takes better care of their animals. It is mostly the larger factory farms to be wary of.

My thoughts exactly. That's the only drink I prefer.

Product packaging continues to shrink as food prices continue to soar!

If the government doesn't figure out what they are going to do regarding this bill, I will be buying milk only when I need it for a recipe.

I will even start drinking my coffee black--that will be hard to do at first, but I'll get use to it.

Now, just days away from year’s end and with a new farm bill – or even an extension of the 2008 farm bill – tied up in the “fiscal cliff” budget debates in Washington, D.C., the inability of the major legislative players to strike a deal looms large.

And the forecasts of a happy resolution have significantly dimmed following the Dec. 20 refusal of a 30- to 40-member Republican House contingent to get behind Speaker John Boehner’s proposal to only increase taxes on incomes over $1 million. At that point, realizing the futility of trying to further whip the votes for his plan, Boehner reportedly cited the Serenity prayer and sent the Republican caucus home for Christmas.

One thing that’s obvious, he(Goule) says: We’re not going to get a farm bill this year “without some type of fiscal cliff bill to attach the agriculture legislation to.”

Mothers will switch to Kool-Aid and the like. Kids will get sicker and sicker. Not that pasteurized milk is any good for them either.


The poorest mothers will not have to worry about it, as they will get milk from WIC and/or food stamps. If the kids are too old to qualify for WIC, some moms will have another baby just to keep milk on the table for the bigger kids.

The lower middle class moms (who do not qualify for food stamps) may drop milk and dairy products all together or just buy significantly less. Kids will have more juice. If you try to keep soy out of your house and you are allergic to nuts, it is hard to find milk alternatives. Rice milk does not taste great.

There are plenty of other foods that have calcium and vitamins besides milk but they are not usually as popular with kids.

I'm originally from dairy country in Massachusetts.
I love pretty much all dairy products. (and I won't apologize to milk nazis)
If the price went up I'd just get used to it.

This is where it could start.
We want less government, we want the feds to spend less money.
Let's start with not just dairy subsidizes but all farm subsidizes.
Like I said, I won't be the one of the people putting the dairy farmer out of business.
I will still buy dairy products.
And, boycotting dairy certainly won't help them that's for sure.
