Seems pretty meaningless for now, they can make an agreement anytime and make it retroactive, so any tax rises will be temporary, and people would probably get rebates.

The only "fical cliff" is in the imaginations of those who like to play games with other peoples' lives. Another created "crisis".

Reid opened the Senate session by launching into a lengthy criticism of the House and Speaker John Boehner, saying he "seems to care more about his Speakership" than making a deal on the cliff.

The House is being run "by a dictatorship of the Speaker," Reid said. He accused Boehner of waiting until the election of the Speaker on Jan. 3 to get involved with negotiations.

Reid also slammed the House for not being in session on Thursday. He said that instead of being in Washington, Republicans are "out watching movies."

"They had to have a conference call," he said

Oh that's classic coming from a major douchebag senator that refused to come up with a budget for the past 4 years.

Why do the voters keep re-electing these guys? They are incapable of doing their jobs.

please pardon my obtusiveness, but what exactly does it mean if we DO go over the cliff........??

I am skeptical till it actually happens...I've seen last second bullshit too many times.

One of my best clients is an electrical contractor in Milwaukee. He's nearing 65 years old and he let all my guys go last week. He said he's waiting to see what happens with the fiscal cliff. If shit goes bad, I'm sure he'll be closing his doors for good in the next few weeks.

There must be 48 hours notice before any vote... We're close to DOOM!

Instead of repeating "fiscal cliff" over and over, why don't they talk about the points of contention? What are they arguing over?

Are these criminals still in session? I thought they adjourned for the holidays before Christmas. Did they come back after Christmas?..............

He can't say he's refusing to bring the bill out of the Congress before the Senate.

If we do the first order of business should be the replacement of all leaders in our federal government starting with Barak Obama, Harry Reid, and John Boehner.


Then hold special elections to replace them all in two weeks with no advertising only debates.
