It's important to note that although "gun crime" is "way up" in the United States because "everyone has a gun", don't forget there are 2 sides to every story.

UK has no guns, but I've also heard they have a much higher "personal crime" rate than the US -- Something that is staved off in the US by the guns its citizens possess.

Lower overall personal crimes.

Here, you don't rob someone because you don't know if they're going to pull out a gun and shoot you (stupid criminals could learn a thing or two about this).

In the UK, if I were a criminal, I wouldn't think twice about getting an illegal gun, then owning everyone in the neighborhood, knowing full well that nobody has a gun. (Personal crimes like rape, robbery, theft, etc. take over)

An Executive order is the most likely method to be used to unconstitutionally rob us of our birthright. Obama has already tried to manipulate the BATFE regulations to reclassify this or that and his attempts so far have been met with heavy resistence and overturned. It could be that some of what he wants done will be allowed to slip through in simple regulation changes at the executive department level. It won't have the official force of law, but it will work in practice so long as no-one stands up to oppose it.

...compare to New Orleans (US most dangerous city) which is - 57.88 (per 100,000).. huge difference
