However I think you are getting you're info from theory - not practical applications.

I have worked with the practical application of this including the physics required and the mechanisms of detonation and the switch from burning to detonation which is not easy.

The bottom line is that in order to get this result, or the notion that one could simply get this result with a one gallon jug of gas is false.To test this theory set up 100 sticks of dynamite against a target, then try to replicate that result with a gallon of gas, arranged however you wish.

However I have witnessed firsthand the explosive power of a full tank of gas (15 - 20 gallons?), and have done the calculations and it was nowhere near the ratios you are talking about.Who knows, may be able to replicate it, but I doubt it and have done this practically - more than once.
