IS VIOLENCE EVER JUSTIFIED?

Huge difference between force and violance. Violance is never "justified", but yes, I will use force to defend myself. Violance is an extreme form of agression such as rape or murder. There is no justification for such acts. What suprises me is how many people are answering "Yes" to violance being justified. Their must be a bunch of sick rapist and murderers on this sight!

It is the last resort to an intolerable situation. Blessed are those with tolerance.

There is not only always a way to avoid violence -- but a way to do so -- that prevents it: from happening again and/or haunts the belligerent who started the escalation.

Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom
Christian and Newsom were leaving an apartment together to go to a friend's party when they were abducted from the apartment complex parking lot.

Christian's parents found her abandoned Toyota 4-Runner two blocks away from the Chipman Street house the following Monday with the help of her mobile phone provider. An envelope recovered from the vehicle yielded fingerprint evidence that led police to Lemaricus Davidson and 2316 Chipman Street. When police went to the address on Tuesday, January 9, they found the house unoccupied and Christian's body in a bin in the kitchen.

According to the testimony of the Knox County Acting Medical Examiner Dr. Darinka Mileusnic-Polchan at the subsequent trial of Eric Boyd, Newsom was repeatedly sodomized with an object and then blindfolded, gagged, arms and feet bound and his head covered. Barefoot, he was dragged outside the house to a set of nearby railroad tracks. He was shot in the back of his head, neck and back and his body was then set on fire.

She was then bound with curtains and strips of bedding, her face covered with a bin liner and her body stashed within five large bin bags, before being placed inside a residential waste disposal unit and covered with sheets. The medical examiner said there was evidence that Channon slowly suffocated to death.[5]

Semantics. How about this, would you defend your daughter from rape? And you are gonna ask me the difference between violence and force? Go contemplate your grammar as your kid gets raped. Take all the time in the world.

Violence in response to violence is justifiable.
Violence as an initial or initiating action is not acceptable.

Depends on the situation. We all have our own definition of what is really justified.

There's always two side to this. For an example, liberals are truly scared that more CO2 is gonna end the world and they blame it on us wishing for our death as a result.

Then us libertarians and conservatives are scared of our lives because liberals are bent on hell trying to ban guns since they really think they promote peace but we don't really see that way. We're being forced to arm ourselves hoping that it does not push them over the line and start killing them to save ours.

Tough call.

Everyone agrees self defense is justified but what if we took self defense off the table? Then is violence ever justified?

Defense of others, and defense of property.

If one is a threat to many, the one must be dealt with.
