When I was about 4 or 5 years old, I had acquired a fever so high that I started to hallucinate. My mother was in a panic, she feared brain damage if something didn't lower the fever and FAST. My grandma told her about an old-wives' remedy. Soak 2 cloths or hankerchiefs in egg whites and put on the soles of the feet (cover with socks). The egg whites instantaneously start to draw the temperature DOWN from the brain (where it is dangerous) to the feet (where it can do no damage). After that incident my mom used this method successfully every time I had high temp. If no eggs are on hand, chopped onion or chopped potato can be applied to feet instead, although egg whites are the fastest method." [link to www.earthclinic.com] This works. I was going to just write the post myself, but thought it a better idea to quote and link Earth Clinic.. Wow...thanks for that info. Or you could just step into a cool shower or a bathtub full of cool water. Not cold. Old timey mustard or onion plasters have healed a lot of people. I was personally healed of pneumonia by a hot plaster on my chest. The next morning I felt great. The key is to draw the fever away from the brain, while letting the fever work its way naturally through the body. You don't want to shock your body with cold water and kill the fever entirely, because it may just rebound bigger and better. EC is a wonderful site, that's why I chose to link it. Heat (plasters, or cayenne pepper tea internally) works as well. No single cure, but several tried and true ones. | skyblau User ID: 29793733 12/28/2012 03:45 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wake him up, give him a fever reducer like ibuprofen, and some water, every twenty minutes or so, wake him and give him sips of water. Put a cool wash cloth on his forehead, and change it every ten minutes.Take his temperature each time you give him water, make sure his temperature is going down. Do not wait until it is over 104 before you get emergency treatment, brain damage starts setting in over that point, and organs start shutting down after that. Don't put too many blankets on him, you don't want him sweating out all his fluids if he is already dehydrated. |
