I'm planning on getting a car but I would like to know other people's opinions on what the price range should be. Also maybe post your experience on buying your first car.

$3,000 is about right. I bought a 89 chevy blazer for $2,000 for my first vehicle as I live in the northeast and needed 4wd. Winters started to calm and I got a 94 jetta for the blazer. I currently own an 01 jetta and love jettas. Some people hate them.

Go and find the cleanest Honda Accord you can for about three grand or less. Then have it serviced at a Honda dealer or good import shop, change the timing belt, water pump and always use oil filters from the dealer regardless who changes the oil.

I have owned a shop for many years and this is what I tell my clients all the time. Having a LOT of experience with clients' kids and their cars over the years.
