Most mammals have an ingrained instinct to defend themselves when attacked. Without it they would soon go extinct. Ask any biologist.

So when someone says they would rather lose their life than to defend that life by any means necessary, there is something wrong with that person. It is completely abnormal, and in fact self destructive behavior if it is followed as stated.
