Op isnt this a bill that is going to be submitted at the 83rd legislature? If so who is sponsoring this bill??? I mean will it actually have backing aomongst the legislative body or is it an outsider trying to submit the bill.

Im extremely interested. I have spent years writing to Washington politicians with little success except during election years. I have already shifted my calling and writing campaign to the State before Obama won his second term.bump

I understand that.. but if a good majority of Texans are for this bill and they do NOT act on it.. it is possible that with everything happening in today's society that it could cause a large civil unrest.

Do NOT ever forget ANONYMOUS COWARD the power of the government only exists as long as the people allow it...

The government has a choice to listen to the people it is paid to represent or to ignore them..

The people have a choice to stand up for themselves and be heard... and if the people are large enough and the voice is strong enough.. and the government ignores it.. then the people have the power to stand against the government...

Also DO NOT EVER FORGET... the constitution of the United States, Texas, and other states are made to protect the people from the government.. NOT the government from the people..

Re: Texas Secession to be addressed at the 83rd session of Texas Legislature
I've been in this state since I was 3 years old. Over the years I've read many people that try to make assertions that Texas could not do it without the union.

They are sadly mistaken. Sure, they can take the troops and equipment, but this state has something like 1/6 of the unions bases, 1/5 the land mass and despite popular opinion, nearly every kind of landscape you can think of. Plenty of farmland and this state pretty much provides for itself ... at least until Perry's weak ass came into the Governor's office, anyway.

If Texas were to become it's own country, it would have the 13th strongest economy in the world, the 46th largest country on the planet. About the same population and GDP as Australia. Not to mention, this state gives more money to the government than it receives (again, at least until Perry's weak ass came into "power").

Then factor in that most Texans have an instant brotherhood. Just for some reason when a Texan meets another Texan (online, when traveling etc), we just kinda high five and instantly bond. The state's tourist slogan is, "Texas; it's a whole other country!".

This is one of the few states that CAN do it without the union.
