They considered this to be Christmas Evening (or Christmas Eve). Christmas would then continue until nightfall on the 25th which started St. Stephen's Day, (Boxing Day) the first of the twelve days of Christmas. v To our ancient ancestors, the Twelfth night after Christmas would have been the evening before 6 January, the twelfth and final day of the Christmas season. The actual date for Twelfth Night has caused much confusion for years and still does today. This is because our modern understanding of the words 'eve' and 'night' mean something different to what our ancient ancestors considered them to be. For us today the night or evening follows the day: Day then Night To our ancient ancestors, it was the other way round: Night then Day [link to xfinitytv.comcast.net] January 6, 2013 Celebrating the appearance of Jesus Christ to the Magi (Representing the World) |

I almost killed it at the Princess of Japan shit, but anyways ... he kept saying Sat. Jan 06. Except it should be Sunday. So I look at the comments. I'm not the only one to notice this. The video poster's response was "word, i left out the 31st good looking". Doesn't that make this wrong in base fact? I don't know moon cycles - just asking. eta: Can't fix quote. Just go look. The Moon Calendar that I am looking at - says December "13" for the New Moon [link to www.world-timedate.com] So, If December 13 was the first night of this month - then the night of January 5 would be the 24th night. Or, Christmas Eve-ning. Since Christmas was celebrated on January 6. This moon month's 25th day. |
