I am having a tough time with this whole gun ban thing, from a spiritual stand point?
first I am not a shill. I am a christian who owns guns! but why? I keep going back and forth on the whole issue! 1 is an issue of faith, if i have faith why do i need a gun? 2. Going back to what Jesus said about the end of times!

51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.

52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

the verse in red is referenced to this verse in Genesis 9:6

Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

Meaning if you kill man you are killing God!

It also refers to this verse in revelation: He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword.

Now, I am a huge gun advocate, however I am so confused by this.

I think I am going down the wrong path! Can somebody help, I am not a shill, I am looking for spiritual clarification here...?

Basically, weapons are for war.

Would you need weapons to protect you if there was no evil to protect you from?

No.

When all is said and done, we will have went through some very dark times.

But the smallest light can fill the darkest void.

Weapons will be banned.

Re: I am having a tough time with this whole gun ban thing, from a spiritual stand point?
im not into any religion, but if thats how you feel about it then follow your heart, but at the same time when god decides its your time then its your time.
personaly i would want to have the ability to protect my family.
honor thy mother and father ect ect
the bible is big on family correct ?

so why not want to protect them by any means ?

guns are just a tool man, you said something about a SWORD being used right ?

what about the TOOL used when cain killed abel? people that want to harm others will find the tool.

but follow your heart with this, cause when god decides its your time there aint nothing you can do about it, so haveing a gun vs not dont matter in the end if thats how YOU belive

but me i like my guns because they are a tool to protect my family and if times get hard they can provide a meal

hope i was helpfull

yea weapons are for war i agree
but weapons can be used for other purposes other then war, protection, and for food
but if you take away all guns from the world all weapons, people will still find a way to harm others.

and there will always be evil in the world always

Re: I am having a tough time with this whole gun ban thing, from a spiritual stand point?
I know this is a very tough issue spiritually? I am soooooo back an forth on it! In a perfect world there would be no guns! So what to do. Is it really worth going to civil war over? IS it, America is not like it was 200 years ago. there are 300 million people here now? If war breaks out millions will die...?

Its funny a man who owns guns is so wishy washy on this issue it is horrible.... Is it in fact the greatest act of faith to not own a gun and what ever happens happens?

I have to pray on this one a lot... I grew up just outside detroit and have seen so many blacks killed.... 600+ murders a year... Just wonder how many would there be if there were no guns?

Pray for me!

Luke 22:35-38

[35] Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?"

"Nothing," they answered.

[36] He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. [37] It is written: 'And he was numbered with the transgressors'; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment."

[38] The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords."

"That is enough," he replied.

I struggle with this myself. I don't want to kill anybody, Nor will I ever deny my faith.

My best advice is Do not leave yourself unprotected and never use lethal force unless it seems like the right course of action.

I guess I would refer to the joke of the preacher on the roof in the flood waiting for God to save him.

So there's this huge flood one day, and an entire town looks like it's going to be swallowed up by the waters. And the Police and Rescue Agencies are running all over the place trying to get people to safety.

So they send the rescue boat over to this house where a guy's sitting on the roof with the water lapping around his ankles and they say "Come on, quickly, there isn't much time"

To which he says "Nah, it's ok, God will Provide"

So about an hour later they're zooming past in the boat again and they notice the guy's still there, only the water's up to his waist, almost at the top of the roof.. "Quick" they say, get in the boat, it's going to get worst before it gets better.

"Nah, don't worry - God will Provide"

An hour after that a rescue helicopter flies over the area and notices the guy, who must be standing on the peak of the roof now, with only his head and shoulders out of the water. "GRAB THE ROPE!" they cry "IT'S YOUR ONLY HOPE!"

"Don't worry" he replies calmly "God will provide."

So he gets drowned of course. And he goes to heaven, and is a little ticked off with god for drowing him like that, and expresses his concern saying "I had FAITH, I BELIEVED in you - and still you didn't help me"

"HELP YOU?!" God replies "What MORE did you want - I sent you two boats and a helicopter!"

I dunno, listen to the spirit, not to the T.V.

Spirit tells me "buy more ammo", what's it tell you?

Re: I am having a tough time with this whole gun ban thing, from a spiritual stand point?
This is one of the hardest questions of the day.

the only advise I can give you is to ask many pastors for their opinions and as a Berean, check their answers against the scripture. Get yourself a copy of Fox's Book of the Martyrs, it don't cost much, read throughout the past 2000 years of those who died for the faith.

I view the current administration as having been appointed by God as judgment against an unholy nation.

When God was thrown out of public schools in 1962/3, we looked at the latest model of Chevrolet and marveled at our black and white TV sets. There should have been a godly pastoral leading the rioting in the streets and tar and feathering of those who overthrew the founding documents of these united states. There was silence.

In 1973 when the feral federal supreme court legalized abortion, there were no organized protests.

Around the same time, psychiatry dropped homosexuality as a mental disorder from the DSM III (probably) now the
DSM V lists every human emotion as a mental illness, to be released in 2013.

Greed, Hedonism, sexual perversion, we are reaping what was sown.

We have turned our backs on our Chief Benefactor (as a nation) and this is the natural progression to destruction and slavery.

We can save this country only through a national repentance, but they will not.

2Ch 7:14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2Ch 7:15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.
(ESV) English Standard Version.

I can't answer the question without God giving the wisdom, but it looks bleak to me.
Study, pray and fast, be serious about your petition!
Peace to you and your family.

Re: I am having a tough time with this whole gun ban thing, from a spiritual stand point?
It is not a trivial topic and you are not the first Christian to have ever wrestled with it.

You must obey what the Spirit says to you.

Dietrich Bonhoffer, a mighty man of God, really really struggled with whether or not he should participate in an attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler, during WWII. He utimately decided to do it. But that was his decision. He was accountable to God for it.

What if you knew that a "crazy" was headed into a school to murder a bunch of innocent children. His guns were loaded and ready to fire. There was not enough time to call the cops and get them on the scene in order to prevent it. You have a ccw permit and are packing. What would you do? Would you intervene? Would the Spirit that is in you even want you to try to intervene? Would you risk your life for those children?

Everyone must decide these things for themselves, through much prayer and contemplation.

And, what is acceptable in one season of your life, may not be acceptable in another. We are constantly growing in His grace and His spirit, or, are we?

I think we are, or should be.

You would not have any rights at all unless they are recognized as being given by God. You know nothing of the Bible and about the same concerning the founding documents.

Modern government is trying to change (without the hope) your God given rights into legal privileges to be issued and repealed at will by the state.

Military completely dismantled, all materials recycled to make wind turbines with all the silver and copper from tanks. Refit all machines that create locks, keys, auto theft deterrants, all them to.create non evil goods. Take away cops, because they can only use night sticls, no more guns, no more f-22, because they have REALLY high caliber bullets. So lets outlaw it all.... Oh wait, lets just castrate the people.... Its easier. Obvious redard is obvious. You wouldnt know if you were being robbed if you wore your wallet in your front pocket.

I hope not to unwisely influence OP, but this is a good post to ponder.

I also recall Sgt. Alvin York being drafted into WWI, refused to kill, but when he saw German machine guns slaughtering helpless soldiers he knew that he had to silence those machine guns. He had no thought of his own safety and captured a huge number of enemy soldiers, but he was forced to pull the trigger on the machine gun nests until they surrendered.

I don't know if he made it to heaven, but look at King David's life as well, he is a man after God's own heart.

If post trib is correct, its probably not a bad idea to be able to protect your family. Not saying God can't. But Abraham, Issac & Jacob walked in times of violence and protected and fought when need be, so why shouldn't you during the most violent time on earth?

OP, I'm not trying to convince you one way or the other. But examine your heart. I mean it. Examine your heart. Why do you really want a gun(s). Do they make YOU feel stronger or a "bad ass". Do you want one so you can commit a crime and take advantage of someone else? (If you are truly a Christian, then I know you don't, but i'm saying this for effect). If so, then I think you have been caught in a trap of the devil. Or do you want them for personal protection and the protection of your loved ones or other decent law abiding citizens? Do you see yourself as a bully of others or a protector against bullies?

What is in your heart? Why do YOU want them? Is it pride? Or is it something else?

And another thing. If God has placed you in a role of protector and provider for others (I don't know if you have family or not), then you need to take the role seriously.

If you are totally responsible just for yourself, then you may be ready to let yourself be led as a lamb to the slaughter. Not to say that is wrong either. To each His own. I think Jesus would accept you if you did.

You just have to pray and seek His guidance for yourself.
