Since falling into political hands it has become a nasty evil system and used almost excursively for political points scoring and gain, It certainly is not being used to provide a safety net when people hit a bump in the road and fall over, nor is it then helping them back onto their feet. You know this system was originally formed as a umbrella charitable organisation to help those during the great depression, not just survive the great depression but get back on their feet and find a new direction, that was before political hands got hold of it after WW2 and turned it into nothing more than a tool to enslave.. Sorry I am probably not helping your rant, but it makes me angry to see a system created and run by common folk, paid for by their good will become nothing more than a political tool to entrap large sections of society in nothing more than a way to buy votes with promises of increases or threats of reductions.. The safety net should be outside of political hands, and it's ultimate job to help people back onto their feet, not trap them with more misery and more worry. |

You've taught me a part of my own history that I didn't know so your post is perfect. In my wildest dreams I never thought I'd end up a slave to the government. I do not believe in entitlements. I believe that you should have to have paid into the system to draw benefits - period. Unfortunately, this is not the case. All of my hard-earned money that was taken out of my paychecks doesn't go to me, or to people who have also paid into the system, it goes to people who use the Social Service system as a career choice. Next week I have to gather up all of my personal documents and go down to the Social Services office. I hate going there. It makes me feel embarrassed. I've always paid my own way and just sitting there listening to people talking on their Obama phones is going to annoy me to no end. My parents want me to apply for one. The idea of it makes me sick to my stomach. I don't want anything from that ass other than him impeached and tossed in prison. And you're right. When the government holds the purse strings of your life, they expect your allegiance. They've never gotten mine. Maybe this is how they punish those who don't vote for them? I will read them all! somehow when people fall through the cracks or need a little help, the government seems to make it a 24/7 job to figure out how to and then fill out all of their paperwork. next to that you need to somehow find time and money and real help to actually get back on your feet. it seems with every new year. governments keep the gnarly tree of paperwork branch and grow. |

The safety net should be outside of political hands, and it's ultimate job to help people back onto their feet, not trap them with more misery and more worry. yeah ... somehow when they raise that income they cut it away in at least two different places. so for every 10 euro or dollar they hand out they cut away 20 ... and then ofcourse when you want 5 back you can only apply when you meet xyz requirements and fill out the proper paperwork within the required time. 1984 anybody ?    |
