I'm against Facebook participation for its intended purpose, but see great possibilities for the unintended ones...

I posted NUMEROUS articles pertaining to there being a second shooter and possibly even more at the sikh temple shooting and they got instantly taken off my page

I was deleted from FascistBook some years ago for this very thing, nothing rdicall new here, apart from some mainstream news feds falling foul.

It was originaly set up as a tool for TPTB, best datamining code tht was ever witten.

Of course it's a big deal. The entire point of the internet is flow of information. It has revolutionary capabilities equivalent to the invention of the printing press. Censorship in any media is the tactic of the desperate, as they fear knowledge being disseminated.

Facebook is nothing but an echo chamber of sheep, all bleating to the same tune. Anything that causes disharmony, must be censored, for their own good!

It's 1984 or a brave new world or fahrenheit 451. Pick one, or combine the worst elements of them all.

I post on Facebook about 3 times a year, usually to tell people that if they want to talk to me, then call me on the phone or send me an email

Its a mundane social network for people to chat about day to day stuff, not a campaining tool for political nut jobs. But your whole post is saying that Facebook doesnt have the right to run their own site, therefore you want to censure their controll.

Facebook profits from its participants. Politics are a matter of social discourse - are they not? So why be so selective? Shouldn't they ban "green" advocates and such?

If any website monetises my presence, you can be damn sure that I will try to get something in return.

Whenever I write anything, I'm speaking always to the individual. I'm happy so long as one person reads what I have to say. What I get is influence. I may be right, or wrong, but the ability to say it without being forced to register is an increasingly uncommon/valuable facility.

I always assume censorship is in place - wherever I post, besides, the people worth reaching will understand this and read between the lines anyway.

It has often been the random, off-hand comment that has given me the most insight. I try to do the same for other individuals.

You must understand; there's a huge body of lurkers on the internet. They never comment, they rarely participate in anything - they just read and observe. These people form part of the vast unknown. Those are the people I'm speaking to.
