Placing three guns in secret locations locked up around the school premisis maybe the heads office for example as one and allowing teachers to volunteer for training would be better. But this is a start in the right direction. |

What people don't know, Is that in AZ, they have an on-duty police officer at every middle and high school already. The cop car is always in the parking lot The problem is, they don't have cops at the elementary schools Why not? Because the cops are at the middle and high schools for the sole purpose of curbing drugs and teenage fighting! Meanwhile, there have been multiple abduction attempts near(and at) the elementary schools. Shows you how much they care for the kiddies. |

You know what they should do is hire 1 ex military guy for each school as decently paid janitors/security guards. Give them enough weapons and ammo to protect the children.. I have a strong feeling these.shootings are inside jobs though.. And there.has to be lots of ex military coming home who want to be cops and troopers.. Make them school security guards for 18-20/hr... I bet they jump all over that..shit i would.. |

Shoot, they have no problem paying tsa goons and air officers. But I think having a police officer makes sense. Since they do it already. They are called SRO - school resource officers. They rotate every year or so - back out to patrol. So they don't get soft sitting in an office eating donuts, lol |

PLEASE UNDERSTAND! This is just as bad for our gun rights as diane feinstein's AWB. The proposed solution is more taxes, bigger government and an expansion of the governments monopoly on brute force. THIS IS PROPAGANDA and any true patriot and second amendment supporter should see it. This is not the answer, this is a divisive tactic born from the same people who pretend to give a shit about your rights but only care about being re-elected. What would actually be helpful (once again not the complete answer) would be to REMOVE the laws prohibiting the concealed carry of firearms inside schools. Police do not stop violence or crime, they respond to it. It is the duty of every man and woman to protect the children of this nation. I am all for allowing teachers and school staff to carry firearms but I am absolutely against paying more cops to sit on their ass while they wait for the .00001% possibility a mass shooting will occur at the school they are stationed at. Even if they were alert and ready, one cop armed with a sidearm vs. a whacko with a rifle is not even remotely likely to prevent another incident. Wake up NRA cardholders. Realize you are blindly swallowing rhetoric just as badly as the anti-gun nuts. |

Columbine High School HAD an armed OFFICER on it's grounds at the time of the shootings there ... not just an armed teacher but an actual ARMED POLICE OFFICER, and the shootings still happened, in fact continued for quite some time after they began. As shown by Columbine just having an armed person in the school doesn't mean that no shootings will occure, or that they will be terminated quickly if one starts. As a parent my concern is that kids would be taught, by the action of having armed people everywhere, that THE GOVERNMENT IS THEIR SAVIOR, that a "PAPERS PLEASE!" demand by a Government Functionary is not only the NOMRAL WAY THE WORLD SHOULD WORK, but is WONDERFUL. You think we have "Big Government" now ... just wait until a generation of kids grows up that have grown up in an atmosphere where Big Government WITH GUNS is EVERYWHERE, including at the entrances to their elementary school dining room. |

They are definitely more "awake" than anyone I know personally. They can discuss current events without screaming or blindly defending their beliefs. Huge respect for them since they actually tried to make a positive difference. |

Funny thing is we've had armed police officers in schools for awhile now here in Az. Back when I was in school we had one officer at both my middle school and high school. They mostly just did the drug education presentations and "scared straight" stuff for kids who got in trouble a lot to keep busy, but they were there for security. Never been a shooting at either, crazy how that works huh? |
