I hope I did not hurt your feelings. It is amazing to me how correct you are. Both countries are trying to hold on, without total success.

Life is different in America. Being poor is different. You may be able to keep some chickens, other animals too. My relatives in Ohio are not rich, but they have more than enough to eat due to having a huge vegetable garden, a maple sugar tree, many many blueberry bushes. They do not have air-conditioning.

To have that much land in Germany, you would need to be rich to begin with.
