IF you look at the caption under the photo on this website, the protcol the children were taught as a drill is to get in a "conga line" and close their eyes and keep them closed with only the LOCOMOTIVE (person in front) ALLOWED to have their eyes open...and they took a picture of kids doing a drill.

What are the kids doing a drill like that for? IN most emergency situations you want to be able to SEE...like fires, earthquakes, flooding, electricity problems....heck, even if there is a loon walking around, I'd imagine. So, why were they training children to CLOSE THEIR EYES and trust the "LOCOMOTIVE"...doesn't that seem odd and a bit dangerous? when you close your eyes you are often not sure footed and you can get dizzy. What were they training for?

Do any teachers know of this protocol? Parents, do your children do these sorts of drills at school? Do they take photos of drills? Just curious...

Pretty disgusting when you think about it. A bunch of anonymous basement commandos who would never have the guts to go anywhere near Connecticut to try out these ridiculous theories with anyone in person.

Except her name is not Allision Wyatt… her real name is Lily Gaubert …

… Her mom is HORRIFIED that someone has claimed she died in the Sandy Hook school shooting.

Now I can already hear some try to argue that this was merely one newspaper's miscue …

Here is the caption from that article:

“The police and school system have a protocol” for evacuating, said Voket. “Children get into a conga line, shoulder to shoulder, and the only person that’s allowed to keep their eyes open is the locomotive at the front of the line, usually an adult. I just find it weird because (maybe things have changed) -- we never were "not allowed" to open our eyes in a drill...and for fire, if the smoke was so bad...don't you crawl out, at that point? They are practicing keeping their eyes closed...why?

These are afternoon shadows, about 2pm-3pm, in the pic of the children, not 10am shadows. Where the children evacuated much later than reported by the reporter?

Some one who has access to the parking lot video, please check and see if the automobiles parked in the lot are the same as showing in the picture of the students leaving the school.

I was teaching in an elementary school after 9/11, and we instituted lock-downs procedures, etc. We went through about a half dozen scenarios, and how we would keep our children safe if - armed intruders, bomb threats, poisons (gases or whatever), fire, tornado, etc - were ever to threaten us.

We put together protocols for lock down (shelter in place), as well as evacuate the building. WE NEVER TOLD OUR CHILDREN TO WALK AROUND WITH THEIR EYES CLOSED, "LOCOMOTIVE STYLE" - unless this is something very new (and presumably instituted since after I left the elementary classroom 3 years ago).

Sounds very weird to me. I would think small children would be MORE scared, crying, disoriented, etc., if you made them close their eyes.

I'm more inclined to believe these kids were told to close their eyes so they would not see the television cameras taping all this to use when needed.

That photo is not from the actually evacuation -- it is a photo of an evacuation drill done in "November" that is being used as a "representation" of this incident...but it is not from this incident. The assistant editor who is quoted (who is also a volunteer firefighter) who was on the scene with a camera is oddly called back to the office 20 minutes into this to "coordinate' coverage of the incident...which is another very odd thing.

But, this drill protocol is disturbing. If the students "practiced" an evacuation protocol with their eyes closed, I'd like to know for exactly what kind of emergency they were "practicing"...and why it was being photographed. To me, having children disallowed from keeping their eyes open and having to trust a "Locomotive" (not to mention being photographed) is a bit creepy. What do all of you think?

Notice how the shooter is always a white person. Don't you think someone from another ethnicity would be doing crap like this if it wasn't being staged?

People of Sandy Hook, don't you have laws which prohibit publishing photos and films of your children without express written consent?

The children in this photo are easily identifiable.

This particular photo has been published all over the country to give people the idea that the children are being evacuated from a school building where there has been shooting.

I just asked my wife about this.

She's a first-grade teacher of 25 years. Still teaching (and still getting that nice paycheck).

I asked if any drills involved closing the children's eyes.

She said no. And then she said, "Who is suggesting this?"
