Hidden US-Israeli Military Agenda: “Break Syria into Pieces”

A timely article in the Jerusalem Post in June brings to the forefront the unspoken objective of US foreign policy, namely the breaking up of Syria as a sovereign nation state –along ethnic and religious lines– into several separate and “independent” political entities. The article also confirms the role of Israel in the process of political destabilization of Syria. Meeting behind Closed Doors at the US State Department

A top level US State Department meeting was held in May with members of the Syrian Kurdish opposition. In attendance were representatives of the Kurdish National Council (KNC), Robert Stephen Ford, the outgoing US ambassador to Syria (who has played a key role in channelling support to the rebels) as well as Frederic C. Hof, a former business partner of Richard Armitage, who currently serves as the administration’s “special coordinator on Syria”. (Ibid). The delegation also met with Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman.

Frederic C. Hof, Robert Stephen Ford and Jeffrey Feltman are the State Department’s key Syria policy-makers, with close links to the Syrian Free Army (SFA) and the Syrian National Council (SNC).

The public statements of KNA leader Sherkoh Abbas in the wake of the State Department meeting suggest that the political fracturing of the Syrian Arab Republic along ethnic and religious lines as well as the creation of an “independent Kurdistan” were discussed. “State Department Deputy Spokesman Mark Toner described [the meeting's] purpose as part of ‘ongoing efforts… to help the Syrian [Kurdish] opposition build a more cohesive opposition to Assad.’” (Ibid).

U.S. officials: Syria using more accurate, Iranian-made missiles

Washington (CNN) -- The Syrian regime this week fired at least two Iranian-made, short-range ballistic missiles in what appears to be an effort to more precisely target Syrian rebels, two U.S. military officials tell CNN.

The Fateh A-110 missiles are more accurate than the older Scud variants that Syrian government forces have used in recent weeks.

MOSCOW (AP) — The United Nations envoy for the Syria crisis has warned that further deterioration of conditions in the country could send an unbearable stream of refugees into neighboring countries.

Speaking Saturday after meeting in Moscow with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Lakhdar Braihmi said "if you have a panic in Damascus and if you have 1 million people leaving Damascus in a panic, they can go to only two places — Lebanon and Jordan. "

Brahimi said that both countries could break if faced with half a million refugees.

Brahimi said that "if the only alternative is really hell or a political process, then we have got all of us to work ceaselessly for a political process."

Desperate Assad creates immediate and present danger in Syria

Something terrible is taking place just across Israel’s northern border was the headline in an Israeli newspaper on the last Friday of 2012.

Syria’s Assad is fast losing control, he is desperate and has lost almost all of those who either backed or supported him. He seems to also have lost the last of his moral commitments and obligations to humanity if nothing else.

The facts are that the “ghost” is now visible and Assad has fired Scud missiles at his own people and according to reports that seem real from within Syria, Assad has indeed used either a biological or chemical weapon against his own people as well as the rebels who are engaged in a conflict to the death with the Syrian regime.

AFP - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is insisting on staying in power and nothing can be done to persuade him to step down, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Saturday.

"Regarding Bashar al-Assad, he repeatedly said, both publically and in private... that he is not planning to leave, that he will remain in his post," Lavrov said alongside Syria peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi. "There is no possibility to change this position."

There's a conspiracy to topple Shi'a regimes. Syria and Iran. The aberration is Iraq, which WAS Sunni under Saddam, but is now ruled mainly by Shi'as. I guess ousting Saddam trumped Shi'a rule in Iraq for the neocons.

Also, Bahrain is mostly Shi'a, but the ruling family is Sunni. The Saudis sent troops to Manama, the capital of Bahrain (and HQ of the USN's 5th Fleet), to quell Shi'a uprisings (read: democratic uprisings = self determination) last year.

Even the US by itself without any help would have more than enough fire power to cripple Russia and China, the only thing keeping the balance of power is the assured mutual destruction that nukes give !

But Syria's opposition has rejected the offer and said Russia should apologise for backing Mr Assad.
