Put some grape seed oil on high heat in a very big skillet, throw in minced clove of garlic for a few seconds until it just starting to brown then put in an entire bag of washed fresh spinach. Stir it til it wilts down within a minute or so and then eat it all in one go. Run to the pot and stay there for a while. Slightly uncomfortable but cleansing.

That sounds yummy!

I'm going to start the day by rewatching "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead" for inspiration.

My plan is to go with the juice fast plan, with lots of mixed vegetables (with lemon and ginger) alternating with grapefruit and psyllium. I already have a juicer, not going out and spending money on new products. I'm also going to take my vitamins and drink lots of distilled water. I'll do that until I'm feeling better and have dropped 10 lbs, then start adding in steamed veggies and rice.

Not feeling too keen on the single item fasts.. I'm feeling a variety of vitamins and minerals will be best.

I'm starting a fast today too. With 5 days off it's now or never. Anyone else fasting.. let's check in here when support is needed or willpower is waning.

I am up for this, im making a proper start tomorrow so I will keep checking in :D planning on at least two weeks- maybe 21 days. I just weighted myself and i weigh 88 kilos - i was down to 74 a couple of months ago and then had a horrible break up and let it all go. so! i am determined to get my ass back in gear! and get down to lower than 74. I know detox and fasting isnt just about weight loss ...but it is the major reason I do it, to restart my healthy eating...i know the benefits are many but weight loss is the ultimate for me :)

Re: I know a lot of you are health nuts, any good detox plans out there?
This is an excellent thread topic, which absolutely every single reader can benefit from!

It is especially appropriate for this time of year (New Year's Resolutions, new year plan, etc.)!

5 * thread!

Here are my contributions:

The body naturally detoxes itself through two primary functions: water and by twisting.

So, without spending any money at all, you can begin doing the following:
1. Drink lots of water! It is almost assured that you are in some stage of dehydration. You need to be drinking at least two litres of water per day. Perhaps three litres or more, depending on your weight and how much you exercise.
Don't like water? Add some fresh lemon, or even make cucumber water! I love cucumber water, it is so tasty and it gives you a subtle zing of refreshment!
If you absolutely struggle with drinking plain water, try adding some juice for the first week...But, no more than 2-3 ounces of juice for every glass of water!

*The more water you consume, the more weight you will lose! Your body will release water weight it has been clinging desperately to, since you have not been consuming the proper amount of fresh water daily!
*Thirst manifests itself as hunger! So, at night, when you feel hungry before bed, or in the middle of the night, drink a large glass (pint glass size is perfect) of water!
*Get in the habit of drinking a large glass of water, first thing right when you wake up! It will help your body to wake up, and it will set the tone for your day!
*Water flushes toxins out of your liver, kidneys, blood, muscles, etc.
*Water will help your achey joints to be lubricated, and you may be surprised to notice your joints feel and move in a better manner!

2. Twisting: Here is an excellent way to begin twisting and to prepare for your day and/or prepare for exercise:

You can also think about exercising. Start with walking for one hour per day, first thing in the morning. You can wear headphones and listen to music or books on tape, to work out your mind as well as your body.

Getting the blood flowing will help your body to detoxify.

Vigorous exercise, where your heart rate rises, and your body sweats, is also recommended, at least 3 times per week.

Do you have access to a sauna? If you do, you should be making use of it! The dry heat will force your body to sweat and expel toxins. If you have a gym membership, ask at the front desk...a lot of times gyms have saunas, but they go unnoticed/unused.

Also, you can research a custom vitamin regimen, tailored specifically for you. A custom vitamin regimen is preferred to a multi-vitamin.

Finally, improve your diet. Switch over to eating grassfed beef and strictly eating grassfed butter and drinking grassfed milk, as opposed to grain-fed which is awful and terrible for your body.
Fresh vegetables and some fresh fruit.
Healthy fats, such as nuts, coconut oil, and grassfed butter are EXCELLENT for you.

Good luck! I hope you update this thread in a few weeks, to detail your progress!

Re: I know a lot of you are health nuts, any good detox plans out there?
Warm lemon water first thing in the morning is a good gentle daily detox for the liver - if you want an extra boost also take milk thistle & dandelion.

If this is your first time trying a detox and/or your diet has been less than optimal, you may want to take it real SLOW, lest you throw yourself into a healing crisis/Herxheimer reaction where you will get very sick as the toxins are coming out. If you are going to do something radical, make sure you have several days off to deal with the aftermath.

IMHO it's best to make changes in small increments so the changes stick. I've seen too many people go through detox hell only to go back to their McD fries. Just adopt healthier choices bit by bit.

Use the herb wormwood, black walnut hull, and clove to kill parasites, Drink a gallon of filtered or distilled water for three or 4 days.
If there is an herb shop by you, liver and kidney cleanse.

Liver Herbs
Don't confuse these liver herbs with the next recipe for the
Liver Cleanse. This recipe contains herbs traditionally used to
help the liver function, while the Liver Cleanse gets gallstones
out.
6 parts comfrey root, Symphytum officinale (also called nipbone root)
6 parts tanner’s oak bark, Quercus alba (white oak bark)
3 parts gravel root, Eupatorium purpureum (queen of the meadow)
3 parts Jacob’s staff, Verbascum thapsus (mullein herb)
2 parts licorice root, Glycyrrhiza glabra
2 parts wild yam root, Dioscorea villosa
2 parts milk thistle herb, Silybum marianum
3 parts walnut bark, Juglans nigra, (black walnut bark)
3 parts marshmallow root, Althea officinalis (white mallow)
1 part lobelia plant, Lobelia inflata (bladder pod)
1 part skullcap, Scutellaria lateriflora (helmet flower)
Mix all the herbs. Add ½ cup of the mixture to 2 quarts of
water. Bring to a boil. Put lid on. Let sit for six hours. Strain and
drink 1½ cups per day. Put the strained herbs in the freezer and
use them one more time.

I've come to realize that it's all about

the PH balance in you body.

Many people are most likely very acidic and need

to be more alkaline.

There are many websites dedicated to just this process.

And believe it or not ACV(apple cider vinegar) is an

excellent source for making you more alkaline.

Detoxes are bad, they're a waste of money, and there is a ton of evidence to back it.

Go to ANY nutritionist and they will ALL tell you that exclusionary diets are harmful.

it is based on a detox fast i did at a health center in thailand. I will go into it in a bit more depth for you , i rushed that little list but i will detail it a bit more. It is so good because it is so easy and each thing has a function and it really does work. you dont have to use beetroot and carrot juice- in thailand it was literally just broth soup (i will list the recipe for that) and watered down pinapple or melon juice- the idea being half water less sugars- but you can have a little glass whenever you like through the day to keep your energy up. I lost 16 kg in 16 days on this but this was with two short walks 45 gym and a swim every day. and i did need to loose a lot so a lot came off quicker i think. I will post longer but i am at work at the mo and posting quickly in between things5a!

I was going to wait until New Years day to start my fast, but what the hell, i'll start tomorrow.

I do have 1 question though. I did a 5 day juice fast last year, and did great until day 4 when I got very, very sick (whole body chills/aches, mild fever, sore throat, etc.) and didn't even want to take any liquids. By the morning of day 5 I was so weak, I caved into my husbands demands that I eat something and had some toast, then a salad, and then felt much better. So was the sickness the actual "detoxing" and I should have just waited it out, or did I just happen to get sick while doing the fast?

OP, don't get too caught up in complicated formulas; some of the simplest are also the best imo.

Personally I take two weeks off from eating and drink lots of water. And occasionally I'll go all out and follow that up with a psillium colon cleanse and an herbal kidney and liver detox. You'll feel like brand new!

My ex used to do a 'brown rice diet'. All the rice you can eat and lots of water. (Some versions include raw veggies, but she never did.) Has to be BROWN rice, tho; the white is devoid of nutrients. What's good about this is that you don't have to go hungry, and the rice has enough nutrients that you could do it virtually forever.

i suggest not a juicer, your removing all the good stuff and drinking the sugar water of fruits which jacks up your insulin.

Get a smoothie maker (Costco is selling a good one for less then 400 dollars).

Watch the video's of Jeff Primack Qigong Practioner, on you tube.

He'll help you conquer disease, teach you how to make smoothies that taste good and help detox your body, and build up your immune system for life.

Stay away from wheat, milk products, canola oil, margarine, fast foods, barbacue meat, and several other bad's people like to eat.

He has a recipe book for smoothies, and a reference book to procedures and what each food does to you and for you.

Why are you detoxing? Are you ready for a detox? Have you cleaned the barnacles off your hull yet with good diet, exercise, meditation, etc? Or, are you trying to rip the barnacles off your hull, taking pieces of the ship off with it?

Do you see the point?

Address lifestyle change first. Then address detox. Add medicinal mushrooms, healthy clay, lots of water, and stop eating shit every day of your life.yoda
