OP, don't get too caught up in complicated formulas; some of the simplest are also the best imo.

Personally I take two weeks off from eating and drink lots of water. And occasionally I'll go all out and follow that up with a psillium colon cleanse and an herbal kidney and liver detox. You'll feel like brand new!

My ex used to do a 'brown rice diet'. All the rice you can eat and lots of water. (Some versions include raw veggies, but she never did.) Has to be BROWN rice, tho; the white is devoid of nutrients. What's good about this is that you don't have to go hungry, and the rice has enough nutrients that you could do it virtually forever.

Yes! I did that and will do it again in the spring. hf

Sounds good, but you might want to think of some protien intake.

There is protein in brown rice. 5g per serving.
My biggest issue was a lack of energy.

Look, I am the first person to say do what it takes to keep you well. I wonder about these "detox" treatments. Mainly because they don't describe what "toxins" they are removing. Moreover, many of them put more strain on the renal and hepatic system than they help. Just be careful is all I am saying. If they were some great system/drug/herbal/vitamin that could cure or heal quickly, there would be people profiting off of it. Eating well and light to moderate exercise tends to be all you need. Lost of evidence to support that and not a lot of people making money off it.

Currently in day 8 of a master cleanse. Felt a little hunger and had some steamed cabbage, about 1/2 cup was sufficient. No symptoms, no discomfort, sleeping well, feeling great. If I get hungry, I'll return to normal food. One big benefit to this is a reset so it's much easier to avoid favorite but unhealthy foods after the "fast" is finished. It's really good to be free of cravings. Another benefit is that it's good to have a break from the hard work of digestion, and it's also nice to have a break from cooking, dishes, shopping... Been doing the MC for about 20 years. Usually do these for 16 days, but if real hunger arises it's necessary to stop and begin eating again. Another benefit: once you resume normal food, everything tastes amazing!

Well as five o'clock was approaching, I started thinking about food again. It didn't help that a friend of mine offered my favorite chinese takeout, a mere few hours after I informed him I was starting a fast. I will avoid that sabotage!

So, I've juiced oranges, pineapple, and whipped it into a smoothie with blueberries, strawberries, and a pear. With added vitamic C powder.

I think I will make it through the first day. It's not a puritan water fast, but it's better than caving in to takeout.

Ok just an update, this morning I started out with a handful of mixed berries. Pretty much just blueberries and some karaka berries (both organic). Washed that down with some herbal tea.

Not much planned for today, will update as the day progresses.

Re: I know a lot of you are health nuts, any good detox plans out there?

I was going to wait until New Years day to start my fast, but what the hell, i'll start tomorrow.

I do have 1 question though. I did a 5 day juice fast last year, and did great until day 4 when I got very, very sick (whole body chills/aches, mild fever, sore throat, etc.) and didn't even want to take any liquids. By the morning of day 5 I was so weak, I caved into my husbands demands that I eat something and had some toast, then a salad, and then felt much better. So was the sickness the actual "detoxing" and I should have just waited it out, or did I just happen to get sick while doing the fast?

It's very possible you were going through a detox. And that's the problem with detoxing, you never know what's going to happen.

I know people who have ended up in the hospital because the poisons were so bad. But, the good news is, after it's all over, you feel better than ever. The bad news is, it scares you.

One guy was exposed to Agent Orange. He went to the hospital when he detoxed. He looked much healthier once it was over, but it was bad.

I read about a lady that passed out in her bathtub from detox but I don't remember what it was from.

I know I've had some very bad detox situations. One time my head swelled to about 3 X it's normal size and I was covered in purplish spots. I had to take my 2 week vacation from work. It scared my family. Everyone thought I was going to die. I knew what I had done and felt okay. I just looked terrible, LOL!

So I've had about two liters of water today, which isn't that far off what I normally consume. It's 3 pm where I am, will hopefully get another liter in before the day is over.

It is good to drink water 10 minutes before a meal and once a meal is digested. Drinking during or right after a meal will wash away your digestive enzymes.

The lemon detox diet is pretty awesome. Follow it up with the gut and psychology syndrome (GAPS) diet and you'll be super detoxed :-)

Day 2 check in.

Yesterday I had only the fruit juice from my juicer, 2 cups of broth, many cups of herbal tea and water. I had bad hunger pains before bed, but ignored them and went to sleep.

Today, no hunger pains, and I've completely lost my craving for coffee already. Normally I drink a whole pot first thing in the morning. Today - none. I'm going to keep going.

 Quoting: The Sonic Dreamer

I'm sorry, I didn't take a picture. But, it was because of candida that I did what I did. I was trying to provoke new synapses in the brain....and it worked. I just went through hell to get there.

It was a niacinamide flush and I started with very low doses and gradually increased them. It was a very low dosage I was taking when this happened. But, I had already been through a lot with the candida cleanses, so it didn't take much I guess. I was trying to get the synapses firing good after clearing up candida.

Anyway, candida is difficult but with any thing, my advice is diet, detox and positive thinking, including inner work.

There are some awesome candida products now. There are enzymes that eat the candida. But you have to get back in balance too, besides finding the diet that works best for you.

I know the raw food people rave about their diet but I don't agree and esp. in the winter months. Raw foods are harder to digest and I've watch a friend who is into a raw food diet look older and more haggard every time I see her.

I follow ayurvedic more than anything. And try to keep alkaline.

I also drink AVC with lemon juice, very small amount of Borox (from the washing powder believe it or not), small amount of soda (I add less than 1/4 tsp) and stevia (or any natural sweetener).....a couple of times of day is good. (I also swish some soda water in my mouth to protect the tooth enamel after taking the AVC drink.)

I also drink a hot, green drink first thing in the mornings.

Thanks! Decreasing my appetite is a huge victory for me so far, as well as eliminating all that caffeine. I don't have gallstones, so I don't think that too much detoxing is required but dropping a few pounds would be great.
