Despite the revisionist history there are hundreds of 'Honest Abe' quotes where he's mocking blacks and saying they should never be allowed to vote or be equal to white people and they should be shipped off to Panama... Sorry Negros, he wasn't the 'hero' the media makes him out to be. [link to articles.latimes.com] Abraham Lincoln 'tried to deport slaves' to British colonies By TOM LEONARD UPDATED: 16:00 EST, 11 February 2011 Abraham Lincoln’s reputation as the great champion of America’s slaves has taken a battering amid new evidence that the revered president wanted to send many of them to toil in British colonies in the Caribbean. ...according to evidence from the British legation in Washington that has turned up at the National Archives in Kew, the president was deadly serious about black colonisation right up until his assassination in 1865. Mr Magness and Mr Page say that just after Lincoln announced the ...Emancipation Proclamation, he authorised plans to set up freedmen’s settlements in what is now Belize and Guyana. And even as black soldiers were dying for the Union cause and a mission to send 453 freed slaves to colonise a pest-ridden island off Haiti met with a disastrous small pox outbreak, Mr Lincoln was secretly authorising British officials to recruit what could have been hundreds of thousands of blacks for a new life on the sugar and cotton plantations of Central America. !!! WOW! Good find! Perpetually dumbfounded. “I have learned now that while those who speak about one's miseries usually hurt, those who keep silence hurt more." C.S. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I, as much as any other man, am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31082165 Now they want to compare Obama to Lincoln. Go figure. Two pieces of shit that deserve burning next to each other in hell. Look at the picture on the wall Let's see: ~suspends habeus corpus ~arrests the Maryland legislature because they might disagree with him ~is said to have an arrest warrant issued for the Supreme Chief Justice who disagreed with him on suspending rights ~arrested a few thousand newspaper editors and writers because they disagreed ~ deliberately acted to destroy the spirit and livelihoods of non combatants in the southern states, letting many freeze and suffer during the winter months, at a time (the mid 19th century) when non combatant civilians were still considered off limit by most civilized nations at war ~approved of measures to use rape as a weapon against the women of the occupied southern states and on top of all that, didn't even seem to like the former slaves and was already making plans to ship them off to dig the Panama Canal to get them out of the USA sure sounds like a wonderful role model to me... and yes, I grew up with Lincoln hero worship like everyone else my age, and yes, he was a wonderful writer but I read and re-read US history from 1789 to 1860, and no where could I see where states which had peaceably joined to form a union were told they would be crushed if they chose to exit. If it had been there, I imagine almost none of the state representatives would have agreed to that clause, or signed the articles of confederation, as they had just fought the battle of their generation to get free of the yoke of a Monarchy They had spent years crafting a document to ensure that they would have rights and freedoms going into the future, why would they agree to a union, an experiment in government which had no exit? That's not all. Lincoln also hired 30,000 Germans as mercenaries to raze the south, (burn, and rape) That is ABSOLUTELY true! Equivalent to bringing UN troops in today! They would have NO QUALMS about harming our citizens, and they had none about doing it then! By David Greenberg|Posted Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at 11:58 AM ET If Lincoln's Maryland actions were dubious, a wave of arrests the following summer under another habeas corpus suspension was downright indefensible. The wave began after Congress instituted the first-ever military draft in July 1862. Because the draft proved highly unpopular and hard to enforce, Secretary of War Edwin Stanton, at Lincoln's behest, issued sweeping orders on Aug. 8 suspending habeas corpus nationwide—the first time the writ was suspended beyond a narrowly defined emergency area. Stanton decreed that anyone "engaged, by act, speech, or writing, in discouraging volunteer enlistments, or in any way giving aid and comfort to the enemy, or in any other disloyal practice against the United States" was subject to arrest and trial "before a military commission." The exceedingly broad mandate precipitated a civil liberties disaster. It allowed local sheriffs and constables to decide arbitrarily who was loyal or disloyal, without even considering the administration's main goal of enforcing the draft. At least 350 people were arrested in the following month, an all-time high. Some of the accused had done nothing worse than bad-mouth the president. (That was also true before Aug. 8. On Aug. 6, for example, Union Gen. Henry Halleck arrested one Missourian for saying, " wouldn't wipe my ass with the stars and stripes.") |

Saddletramp User ID: 28613950 United States 12/29/2012 05:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The re-write of Lincoln's legacy has been stunning indeed. He was never an abolishionist, in fact he was a open racist, but he was losing support in the North for his scorched Earth war against the South, and the only large block of support he could find for continuing the war was the Northern Abolishionists. His own Congress would not pass the emancipation proclamation, so in exchange for abolishionist support he went ahead and issued the emancipation proclamation as an executive order in the middle of the war, illegally I might add,. Slavery was indeed a terrible injustice, but it was already on its way out in Western Civilization when the Civil War occurred. Revisionist historians latched onto slavery as the root cause of the Civil War, but in fact it was merely an afterthought and a desperate attempt to shore up waning support for that awful war.... And the United States has never been the same country since... There have been several defining moments that have tested the United States resolve to maintain the true ideals of our forefathers, 9/11/2001, The Federal Reserve Act of 1913, and the U.S. Civil War have been three of the biggest, and also biggest failures... It's time to admit the United States that most people think they live in is gone, the only reason we think it's still here is because the T.V. Tells Americans how free they are every single day. Until we can admit that the ideals of our forefathers have been hoplessly corrupted, there will be no fixing this...
