They believed Satan because they had not eaten the "fruit from the tree of knowledge yet". They did not "Know" it was wrong. They were just like children left alone without a babysitter.
Then Satan comes along and well the rest is history.

A huge issue I have with the story of Adam and Eve. God tells them they can eat the fruit from any tree except the fruit from the tree of knowledge. It's a catch 22. They couldn't have "known" it was wrong to disobey God because they hadn't eaten from the fruit yet that would have enabled them to "Know" it was wrong to disobey just like they didn't know it was wrong to listen to Satan.

You're right however that mankind got a raw deal which is why Jesus provided the ransom solution to who ever participates;
"That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned—. 13 For until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not charged against anyone when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death ruled as king from Adam down to Moses, even over those who had not sinned after the likeness of the transgression by Adam, who bears a resemblance to him that was to come." The serpent told us that we would be more like God, knowing good an evil.

Satan was actually correct. It was God who was telling the lies. Satan said you will not die and, according to the Christian, no one ever really dies. When you die in this world, you go to another world immediately, so death has no meaning. Christians think people go to hell or heaven so there is no death. Think about it. You don't actually think you will die. You will just be transferred to another reality. Atheists believe that people die and turn to dust. God said (in the quote above) that people whill return to the ground and return to dust. So is God telling a lie? Why didn't he mention that people would go directly to hell?

God placed the tree, eve and serpent in the garden for that purpose. By implication, God intended on Adam eating from the tree.

You are incorrect. First of all if you read the Old Testament, God is "I AM", nowhere does it state Jehovah is God. Even the 10 commandments testify to this.

Second of all, how can you "Know" something if you don't know anything?

That is like trying to walk without legs, seeing without eyes and hearing without ears. They did not "KNOW" because they had not eaten the "fruit of knowledge" at the time they were told. You are just trying to confuse the issue.
