That way NASA could put to rest the lunar landing hoax conspiracy theories once and for all.

It can see stars billions of light years away, so don't tell me it isn't powerful enough to zoom in on the landing sites.

Have you ever tried to read a newspaper with binoculars?
The optics in Hubble just aren't made for such short distances.

Hubble Prospects For Resources on The Moon [link to www.nasa.gov]
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9153955

"The Apollo descent stages left on the lunar surface are too small to be seen by Hubble, which can see objects as small as 60-75 yards, about three-quarters the length of a soccer field. The left-behind descent stages are only about the size of a small truck.

These observations weren't easy. The moon is a difficult target for Hubble because it moves across the sky faster than Hubble can track it and is very dim in ultraviolet light. The observations required steady, precise, as well as long exposures to search for the resources. In spite of these challenges, Hubble was able to image all of its targets, and early results show that Hubble can detect ilmenite at the Apollo 17 site from 248,000 miles (400,000 km) away."

Yes.

To study the Moon.

That way NASA could put to rest the lunar landing hoax conspiracy theories once and for all.
 Quoting: Anonymous OP 3850631

No, they couldn't.
Even if they could be bothered to argue with knuckle-heads, and even if they could image the Apollo artefacts with the HST.

Nothing can.

NASA did image the Apollo artefacts, with telescopes much closer to the Moon.
LROC_A17

The hoaxies handwaved it away, they are impervious to evidence.
That's why they are hoaxies in the first place.
Read any of the Moonlanding threads here on GLP and that will become as light as day.

It can see stars billions of light years away, so don't tell me it isn't powerful enough to zoom in on the landing sites.
 Quoting: Anonymous OP 3850631

Don't tell me not to tell the truth.

The Apollo artefacts on the surface of the Moon might be much closer than some supernova in the Andromeda galaxy, but that supernova is several orders of magnitude larger, and brighter, than that it is further away.
IOW an Earth-based telescope, and the HST pretty much is, would need to be about 200 metres across to properly image them.

I bet he got fired. He probably got unemployment though because it wasn't gross misconduct. He was just an idiot.
