RE ARTICLE: Google Assumes Role of Big Brother . Heres a Simple Solution To opt out
Today there is an article here on GLP titled...

Google Assumes Role of Private Intel Big Brother.

Online giant Google will have eyes everywhere, including your wallet and spending habits! The company plans to start a new service that will combine online intelligence with offline consumer data. So, Google will make it possible for advertisers to target clients. The search engine will offer advertising companies an access to people’s Web and real life activities.
A few days ago, Google announced the launch of a new ad project called Conversions API. The service will allow companies to make profiles of their users using not only their Internet search history, but also their in-store shopping activities.

Ok, so now youve read a bit of the article.

I suggest that you follow the link and read it all.

It is disgusting that we are being so constantly and heavily data-mined.

Well thats how I feel about it.

Where will all this end.

And also by their admission, why is Google providing any information to any government for any reason?

Can anyone tell me if it is a breach of privacy to use anyones information either individually or collectively.

Doesent using any information and providing it to a third party constitute a privacy breach?

If I use a communal computer as most of us do, then would it be ok for other users to be receiving advertisments directed towards me and vice versa?

This paragraph from the article really scares me by what it doesent say but rather what it implies.

So far, there is no guarantee that users’ information collected by Google won’t get in the hand of third parties. Despite being protected, the data can someday be accessed by a sneaky hacker. The possibility of selling or exchanging such data seems so dangerous that we are not even attempting to discuss it – you can imagine by yourself the consequences.

Thanks for the BUMP AC Canada.

You bet, this is a lot bigger than meets the eye.

Just think where this could lead.

And anyway, who wants more damn nuisance advertising.

If I want it, I know how to get it, I certainly dont want to be paying for something I dont want to be shoved down my throat.

And all without my permission and using my inforation to work out how best to do it.

Batshit crazy logic!

This has been raised before and really the only solution is to stop using google and to use a different search engine.

Actually the one that I use is completely secure, no trace back to me, but they submit your enquiry to google, so you get the best of both worlds.

That is you can still be queerying google, but you are doing it without any trace back to you and hence no data-mining of your information.

SWEET!

Problem solved.

Seriously though, I have been using this and I do find it quick and uncomplicated, AND with no advertising.

I value my privacy, and for sure I resent someone making money by using me for their profit.

That is just wrong.

Tracking is big business. With google android phones grabbing a big part of the market share, they are obtaining valuable user trend data.

yes, and all without your permission.

It just doesent seem to be right, surely they should have to ask for that permission.
