Re: computer buying questions
Whatever you do, do not buy a Dell!

Bought a Gateway for the g/f a while ago and it has been awesome, which they are made by acer btw....

Of those two choices....the second one is the much better choice.
The Dell's are good....but that one doesn't have enough power (memory/cpu)to run Win7 well.

Go with the dual core Gateway.

Try to find Lenovo, LG or Samsung laptops. Good quality for a reasonable price!

Non consumer serviceable drive and memory areas (no doors)....so you have to void warranties to upgrade.

Stay clear of them.

Never had any problems with any of those brands. My new Samsung kicks ass and it was cheap.

Try the local GoodWill store, the one in my town has a computer store and excellent values on used equipment. I think the have a return/warranty policy also.

They reload everything to as new on the system.

I think most are around 100/125 dollars.

Toshiba makes the best laptops. I have owned many of them over the years. Sold some but still have 4 left and all of them still work perfectly.

Re: computer buying questions
There is no comparison, the Gateway is by far superior. faster processor, better video, way more ram, Win7 Professional, guy said it's a clean install so it should run well for a while without much maintenance. Hell, *I* want that gateway laptop, it's a steal at that price.

The dell should probably be about $50-$75 and it's still much older tech and much slower.

Memory...drive size....CPU cores and CPU speed.
Better bang for the buck without question with the Dell.
