Few people in the last 200 years understood human nature and mankind’s fallen state quite like Dostoevsky. His uncanny abilities to dissect the pathology of a killer or the spiritual joy of a contented Russian peasant have inspired generations of writers, thinkers, and even psychologists for a century and a half. Dostoevsky held that the inherent weakness of the Utopian visions of socialism was a rejection of God and the institution of the family. He saw that for the Left, their politics became their religion. The members of the progressive-Left were demanding that standards of Judeo-Christian morality be replaced with new (arbitrary) standards handed down from central councils and planning committees. One of my favorite authors. The only book of his I couldn't get into was "The Adolescent." "The Brother's Karamazov" is one of the finest works I've ever read. Have you checked out Gogol? I dead "Dead Souls" last year and that was really funny. Reminded me of Dusty. |

A brilliant writer, but I don't know about a prophet. He mostly wrote to pay off his gambling debts. I wonder what he could have done if he'd gotten serious. |
