Proof Of Stupidity and Superficiality: Women Who Must Have "A Perfect Wedding!!"

I couldn't agree more. Ridiculous. I am a woman but never understood this nonsense of a lavish wedding, particularly going into debt in order to have it. My wedding was about as basic as it gets...less than $1000 and most of that was taking everyone out to brunch afterwards. Get real people! Save the money toward a down payment on a house. The focus should be on finding the right mate and creating a life together, not on a party.

We got married in my parents living room, with just our parents and grandparents in attendance, by the same preacher who married my mom and dad, and he also happens to be a plumber. How's that for redneck? lol

We spent the cash on a 10 day honeymoon...screw the fancy wedding!

Boys...be sure to get a prenup. Don't let her take your money, stuff, or children! If she doesn't agree to that contract, let her go.

I've dumped a couple of girls cause they talked about elaborate weddings. It's nauseating. One girl was like it'll only cost $50,000 dollars, like that was a drop in the bucket. I explained to her that 50 grand, invested properly, could pay for a kids college degree and make retirement happen 2 years earlier. She was incapable of computing that. Just another stupid girl mesmerized by dreams of being a mini celebrity and all that mindless stupid bullshit. I pumped a couple more loads into her and moved on to the next chick.

What's more stupid?

The superficial woman who knows what she wants, or the man that gives it to her?

Both are equally stupid and end up failing in the end.

You know, people should have modest weddings. Save up your money for kids!

My mother got married in my grandfather's living room and later went to a local bar with the guests and had dinner.

I asked my mom about this wedding shit. She said it all started after that huge TV spectacle of Prince Charles and Lady Diana in 1982. After that, every girl had to have the fairy princess wedding. Before that, you bought a $100 dress, held it any place big enough to hold your guest list. $1000 for the whole thing was extravagant.

Times have changed.

For some men weddings are not important but it is very different for women. It's not about stupidity or superficiality. It goes beyond that.

The wedding marks one of the most important and beautiful moments of your life and the bride wants everything perfect because she wants it to be a beautiful memory and she wants the people to experience a beautiful moment. The reason why some brides get crazy is just because of that. They want the people to feel the happiness she feels inside..... and a wedding is also important because we can feel like beautiful princesses ....

It is just a beautiful moment that we want it to be perfectly beautiful.


It's not stupidity and it is not superficiality.

This is what men cannot wrap their minds around. Princesses live in castles. If the choice is a castle, or a one day $40,000 extravaganza, it's pretty obvious you take the castle. Yet the girls would rather have this Barbie Princess wedding and then live in mom and dad's basement. I don't understand it, most guys never will.

we had two weddings, me and my wife. Our second was the legal one, church wedding, traditional, in which she was given away to me. It was beautiful with many in attendance. Her wedding dress was handmade by my mother however. Not because one couldn't be afforded but a handmade dress went better with tradition. And it turned out gorgeous. My wife was simply gorgeous. The church and reception was decorated to be totally stunning. We honeymooned after going on a retreat to a cottage with no one around but just us.

Our first wedding was a chattel wedding. In which her parents first gave her away to me. It wasn't public, but family agreed upon. And actually more traditional and strong in commitment than the later legal wedding. Including a contract. My wife was a chattel wife before she was a legal wife. Possession of her signed to me by her parents and also of her own will. Yes. This does still happen in the united states and no, we are not Muslims. Her father gave her away in chattel. Her father died so her eldest brother gave her away to me in representing her family in the church legal wedding. So my wife actually had two weddings. In both instances I took her to bed as a wife. Not to please her but to show ownership of her. It is tradition and the consecration of the marriage ceremonies. She once commented she had wished I made love to her on one of those nights. But she understands the marriage consecration is a little deeper in devotion and duty than a roll in the hay with I love you's.

Neither of her weddings were "perfect" but steep in tradition and based on the actual marriage covenant and family exchange of her possession.

I can quite accurately predict the duration of a marriage by calculating the cost of the wedding against the couple's combined liquid assets.

It´s called the "Cinderella Complex".

And it´s not only the Wedding. They require a Castle, Servants, Chariots, etc. It´s all our fault because they are raised like princesses in the typical Western Christian family.

Years ago, my fiance and I watched a PBS documentary on the deBeers diamond cartel and the near-slave conditions of the native diamond miners. deBeers cornered the market and only put so many on the market...manipulating price by limiting the supply. Then they started an advertising campaign to get women to believe getting a diamond ring a long-time custom.

After watching the program, she didn't want a diamond ring. We also had a small wedding and a catered party. No gifts, just bring a bouquet of flowers. Cost is about $1200.

Bought a house for $180k...sold it 15 years later for $510k and moved to a place with a lower cost of living.
