Christianity is DAVID 1.0 sold as JOSHUA.

JOSHUA was supposed to be a free OS, but it was discovered post production that most people cannot run the derned thing because of hard-ware limitations. Without proper cooling, the system would overheat, especially with the optional and costly HELLFIREpach installed. So most people preferred DAVID and just set up the interface to look like JOSHUA.

This caused huge dis-satisfaction with the people who chose to register and pay for their OS, many of whom bought hardware just for the purpose of running a registered copy of JOSHUA.

This was fixed in the 1.33 release of JOSHUA, which was technically a hacked and scaled down version of the main program. It would run on anything that would run DAVID 1.0 and trashed a lot of the command line interface that JOSHUA was known for, in favor of the Avatar GUI.

Most people today run this 1.33 version, or a hacked Juarez.


The 1.44 release incorporated the 1.40 Jovian Expansion, which introduced two versions of the Joshua Avatar. Both of them Mil-Spec. One is known as a JEHOVAH or JOVIAN unit, the other is known as the MELCHIZADEK unit. The main difference being that the JEHOVAH or JOVIAN unit hails from the planetary body of that name, while the MELCHI unit is EArth based.

Most other details of these two of course, are classified intel.

The 1.44 release was the fastest selling operating system in this universe's history, as it contained full remote support from the developers. The two units also received high praises for their ease of use due to the fact that they can harness an entire Jovian mass effortlessly. The equivalent of modern touchscreen computing.

While being classified Mil-Spec Avatars, the development team did leak a beta version of JOSHUA OS in which they had specified a programming change. (Jovian Orbital Super Heavyweight Undefeated Avatar).

This signified a change of OS centric computing, to user-centric computing. This was only available for the JEHOVAH upgrade, as MELCHI users typically preferred the HELLFIRE expansion.

This also eliminated the need for the three search assistants found in all versions of JOSHUA prior to 1.44. All things considered, this change was the most controversial.

I run a developer's version of 1.44 myself.

Hmm, so the JEHOVAH upgrade of the beta JOSHUA OS does not have the hellfire expansion? I can see how that would be easier to run the more popular games on it like Tom Clancy's ENDWAR and Hearts of Iron, which require many cycles. Hellfire expansion pack draws far too many cycles and makes the user experience too slow. Anyway, its not like the users need to have hell explained to them, when computers are such foul and temperamental machines eh?
