For every problem, there are an infinite number of solutions. So to cut down the scope we look for the most probable. This does not mean that other solutions are invalid... It likely means they simply cost more energy than the path that was taken. That is to say something like we could build a time machine, if you would loan me a trillion dollars. I like to stick with the uncertainty principle whe dealing with probability. Maybe a bit like the improbability drive in some respects. That is to say, I can never choose the wrong path. If I could have taken a better path I would have. I like to use that one when I am running late. I am never late. I can only show up o time. If I could have gotten here any sooner, I would have. Maybe they just don't know what Marvin can do. A bit like putting a lion in a cage. It is still a lion... How do you think that lion in the zoo feels? He is probably spending his time, playing it cool. Then the on day the zoo keeper leaves the gate open, he is gone. Now tell me... would the lion leave if the gate were open and the zoo keeper were his best friend and he had the perfect lion life? Probably not, but how probable is that? |
| Axo Azeratel (OP) Xenonem Inde Crucis User ID: 20063747 02/12/2013 03:59 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ... From wikipedia....... Marvin, the Paranoid Android, is a fictional character in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams. Marvin is the ship's robot aboard the starship Heart of Gold. Originally built as a failed prototype of Sirius Cybernetics Corporation's GPP (Genuine People Personalities) technology, Marvin is afflicted with severe depression and boredom, in part because he has a "brain the size of a planet" which he is seldom, if ever, given the chance to use. Indeed, the true horror of Marvin's existence is that no task he could be given would occupy even the tiniest fraction of his vast intellect. Marvin claims he is 50,000 times more intelligent than a human, (or 30 billion times more intelligent than a live mattress) though this is, if anything, a vast underestimation. When kidnapped by the bellicose Krikkit robots and tied to the interfaces of their intelligent war computer, Marvin simultaneously manages to plan the entire planet's military strategy, solve "all of the major mathematical, physical, chemical, biological, sociological, philosophical, etymological, meteorological and psychological problems of the Universe except his own, three times over," and compose a number of lullabies. He seemed to find this last task the hardest, and only one, "How I Hate the Night", is known. ... ... ![]() [link to en.wikipedia.org] . ....
