You know, Arabs claim that any spelling of an Arabic name matching how it is pronounced in one of the many dialects of Arab is correct.

So, Gaddafi, Kadhafi, Qadafi - all correct; although if you watched the Interview Gaddafi gave to CNN/ABC\AP he pronounced al Qaeda "al Gaida" - so I think spelling his name w/ a G probably matches how he said it...before he was Gaddafi'd Kadhafi'd Qadafi'd - Just sayin'

More attacks in Iraq...Have they slipped back into Civil War?

Violence has spiked in Iraq in recent weeks, raising fears of a return to widespread sectarian bloodshed.

The death toll in May surpassed April's 712 casualties, making it the deadliest month recorded since June 2008.

The attacks on Thursday came just a day after gunmen ambushed a group of travellers at a fake checkpoint at a desert site in western Iraq, killing at least 14 of them.

Of the casualties on Wednesday's attack, 11 were military men heading to their base in Anbar Province, while three were civilian drivers.

The latest attacks have coincided with rising discontent in the Sunni Arab minority against the mainly Shia-led government that erupted into protests in late December.

Sunni protesters are expected to come out again following prayers on Friday.

BEIRUT, SANA_ Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour said that Hizbollah is a political Lebanese party and not a terrorist party.

" Hizbollah is a Lebanese political party which has confronted the Israeli enemy and is still confronting its aggressions ... It cannot be treated as a terrorist party in any form as the some in the Arab League want.”

He made the comments to reporters at Beirut’s international airport upon arrival from Cairo after attending an extraordinary meeting of Arab League's foreign ministers.

The Lebanese Minister considered what was raised by the some at the AL on labeling Hizbollah as a terrorist organization as an "unaccepted issue,"

" This issue has been decided. We cannot accept such a proposal, because Hizbollah is an indivisible part of the Lebanese national and political fabric,"

N.Korea Doubles Ground-to-Ground Missiles

Since 2005, North Korea has doubled the number of ground-to-ground missiles to three times the number South Korea has, an academic said Thursday. Prof. Chun Jae-sung of Seoul National University was speaking during a seminar in Seoul.

"While its naval and air force capabilities are relatively weak, the North has been improving surprise attack capabilities by focused on reinforcing weapons of mass destruction such as ballistic missiles, special warfare forces, long-range artillery and tanks," Chun said.

Researchers who monitor the conflict said this week that they’ve detected the influx of foreigners in firsthand observations on the battlefield, spotting them in rebel videos posted on the Internet, observing a recent spike in reported deaths of foreign fighters and studying their postings on social media sites.

I wouldn't call it a regional war quite yet....it has crept into Lebannon yes but that was kinda expected given the involvement of Hezbollah, one another player ie Israel, Jordan gets involved then I would categorize it as a regional war.

LIbyan Shield is an umbrella of militia groups. At a minimum, they disappeared when the US compound in Benghazi was attacked. Many believe that the militias were involved. You may remember that during protests in the wake of the attack, 6 Libyan Shield members were found dead outside their barracks. Payback, Libya style.

Yes, but look at who's fighting in Syria -

Tunisians, Libyans, Iraqis, Saudis, and Afghans with the rebels, Lebanese & Iranians with the Syrian gov't forces AND the foreigners are becoming larger share of fighting force.

Hey Darby. That really is a sad article. No one would ever want to see their home like this. So many places I've always wanted to visit and now, will never see.

I've found several blogs that can explain in more detail than I can, I can link them if anyone is interested. The very short version is, Damascus will be completely destroyed and NO LONGER a city. No one will live there. It's not at that point yet, so prophecy still has not been fulfilled. It was interesting to note the dates of the blogs. One was written in 1998. The author noted information that we've been talking about here. It was already known then.

I'm not an expert on prophecy, I've just always found it interesting, especially combined with current events. I had a chaplain tell me once that prophecy couldn't be found in the pages of a newspaper. I enjoyed the conversations we had about it. I'm not sure if I ever changed his mind, but I do know I gave him a lot to think about!LOL

We're getting closer to prophecy being fulfilled, but not quite yet.

Syria army preparing for Aleppo battle: security source

Syria's army is preparing to launch an assault on Aleppo aimed at driving rebels out of the northern city and surrounding province, a Syrian security source told AFP on Sunday.

The announcement comes five days after the army and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah seized Qusayr in central-west Syria, a year after the strategic region had fallen into rebel hands.
