Russia evacuates Tartus, also military, diplomatic personnel from Syria. High war alert in Israel
DEBKAfile Video Jun 26, 2013, 5:11 PM (IDT)

Shortly after DEBKA aired a special video on the Syrian war’s widening circle, Moscow announced Wednesday June 26, the evacuation beginning Friday of all Russian military and diplomatic personnel from Syria was complete, including its naval base at Tartus. “Russia decided to withdraw its personnel because of the fear of an incident involving the Russian military that could have larger consequences,” said a defense ministry official in Moscow. A 16-ship naval task force remains in the eastern Mediterranean. An unannounced Israeli war maneuver was conducted on the Golan.

Guess the Russians forgot about the 200 well armed "military advisors" they left behind. Someone should email Putin and let him know.

Today's local news - Declassified OIG report shows 4 CIA analysts were embedded with NYPD in the decade following 9/11.

One of the analysts was involved in intelligence operations. He did not believe the restrictions on domestic spying applied to him as he was on long-term leave from the agency while working with the police department.

Everyone is dreading it.. Ramadan is called a time of peace; but many wars have been fought during it. Arab leaders have been known to start conflicts right before Ramadan. If it goes poorly - they have a built-in excuse to stop fighting..

Re: WORLD at WAR, OFFICIAL 2013 THREAD (Doom always only a moment away)
I have question that I think somebody in here might know the answer to.. This past weekend my brother left for his deployment. Being that I have not seen him in almost 5 years and he had to stay in Norfolk for a night, I drove there to see him.
He had to stay at a hotel close to the naval base and I ended up staying at Langley. It's been about two-three years since I last been two either of these places and I remember them being busy (for the lask of a better term~long day). This past weekend seemed odd; there were hardly any people anywhere. Saturday afternoon I drove all over Langley and did not see one person walking.. only two cars at the gas station, the pool was empty, and there were eight F-22's parked with nobody with them (that I could see).

Oh, the hospital and hotel seemed normal.
Also, the naval station had a little more action, but not much.

What I would like to know is, has this become the norm? Were was everybody? Did this happen when the 15's left?

Please feel free to PM me if it's more comfortable~ Thanks

Hey novamom! I don't have a strong answer for you, just some ideas. Sorry, I've never been to either of the bases. That said, it doesn't sound normal to me. Those are 2 of the biggest. The only other thing I can come up with, it was an off payday weekend and it IS PCS season. Maybe? Hopefully, the others have a better idea for you. Sounds kind of weird to me, though.

Kerry is due to meet Israeli and Palestinian leaders on Thursday. He will not leave Israel until Sunday.

From July 1st on, all bets are off!

My theory: US and Russia acknowledge Iran has just crossed a critical line that requires a US-Israel attack ASAP, which Russians assess will quickly bring in Syria-Hezbollah-Hamas-PA-Egypt-Lebanon-Gaza-Golan immediate and all-out response. Russians are bugging out of the hot zone and will respond by remote control. Secy of State trying to coordinate Gulf States collaboration with US-Israeli actions, much like they did when Saddam invaded Kuwait.

Apologies if this has already been posted:

'The battlefields are merging': Surge in violence raises fears of new war in Iraq and beyond

A major uptick in sectarian violence which has killed about 2,000 people since April 1 has sparked fears that Iraq is heading for a full-scale civil war that could draw in powerful regional rivals Iran and Saudi Arabia.

There are already signs that the current conflict is starting to merge with the bitter fighting in Syria, creating a war zone from the Mediterranean Sea to the Persian Gulf.

Thank you Darby for your insight. Even from a few pages back with an answer to my question.:)

On an aside, it's a great country to be able to voice truth and travel without too much government involvement. Perhaps the world lost it's whipping post in America and focuses on it's own situation? Glad for that!! China's regions is definitely next to have situations of people with incentive against government physical limitations.
Bravo for the change.
