As in those we support, or the ones iran funnels in? We all know here atleast that the us is operating jointly with turkey to arm and use the border crossings to send our rebels in.

This is par with iranian ops, especially retaliations. Iran needs to drive a wedge between turkey and nato/usa/israel.

I agree with you - this could be "low-grade" deniable response to Syrian air strikes from Iran BUT the DC think-tank jerks are blaming our erstwhile friends the Sunni Islamists fighting Assad regime - reminds me of when they blamed Assad regime for bombings that targeted Assad loyalists...

Russia can strike against Israel after Israel attack against russian forces in Syria.
Stupid jews.... :)))))

It would be in Russia's best interest to not mess with Israel. I have a feeling that might leave Putin a little embarrassed at the outcome of that. People always underestimate Israel's military capabilities.

LOL! Israel never faced modern equipped, regular army. We will see how they will deal with Russian soldiers. Then we can talk about the true value of IDF.

Swin,

Ignore them, their comments only make the case on why the State of Israel needs to exist; but I'm not going there 2day

I'm still interested in the PEMEX blast - 32 killed - despite early reports -cause still unknown and Mexico is increasing security at oil facilities, power plants and airports as it investigates the blast.

[link to bloom.bg]

If you were smart, and you wanted to get at the US, wouldn't it be a good idea to go after our economy and/or our soft underbelly. Oil is the lifeblood of,the US economy and our neighbor to the south seems pretty soft to me...

Uuuhhhhmmmmmmmmm - There's this neat little feature just to the left
<<<<<<<<
that denotes a poster's country, and it's ~usually~ pretty accurate. Canada is no "Small Country".

For the record - Russia is a huge land mass, granted, but when evaluated on the actual area that has been developed, much less prosperous, and then held against the balance of countries that have proportionately managed and grown within their given boundaries - Russia loses in that respect.

Thanks for playing, though
Job 12:7) But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

Re: WORLD at WAR, OFFICIAL 2013 THREAD (Doom always only a moment away)
So we made it through the crisis so far so good between Israel/Syria/and Iran. No evident retaliation. Doom is not off, but repercussions are delayed at least to this moment. Israel is still watching some serious offensive posturing by Assad, but for the moment things are a tense calm.

Israel has been shown no reason why she would not strike similiar facilities and convoys as has been done already. Thus, if or when the situation becomes necessary for more house cleaning, it will happen and this time more boldly.

Though Assad is in the midst of a civil war, he does wish to hit back at Israel. If anything to try to end the civil war by uniting the nation and region against Israel.

Many say the Hezbollah does not wish to get into a battle with Israel due to the fact that the Hezbollah are battle weary and do not wish to lose strength as their partner (Syria) is not in a position to help them. People remember, Hezbollah's only goal is to be a menace to Israel and they are paid to fight Israel. I would discredit the fact Hezbollah would not want to lose strength when Hezbollah will lose more strength if Syria is lost.

Further, Syria needs more than just Hezbollah help in battles, they need a reason to survive and a Hezbollah/Iran/Syria confrontation with Israel could serve that purpose just fine. The use it or lose philosophy also loses credibility based upon the Hamas project. Hamas lost much of its valued long range offensive weaponry in the opening salvo of battle with Israel where Israel dictated the terms of the fight. Hezbollah and Syria know that they must throw the first punches and with the most valuable long range missiles in hopes of inflicting severe damage on Israel that could allow them the upper hand quickly, then get Russia and the UN to jump in and end the matter as a skirmish to them and a lost battle to Israel. Wherefore, preparations are being made to allow a muslim victory against Israel in quick fashion. Then, any damage to Syria and or Hezbollah could be rebuilt again just in time for Iranian nukes to deter any Israeli attack.

Iran too is facing UN and US hostility towards her nuclear program. SHe needs to release pressure to buy more time for her remaining nuclear program to come to success. Her allies have been trained and given many tools to damage Israel and that is what will transpire, and very soon. That is reason number one why Iran has dedicated pouring in many more troops to Syria recently to give more room for the Hezbollah to attack Israel as well as have joint command and control over the civil war for Syria and attacking Israel. THen too, if Assad falls, Iran can try to bribe the next leader, but why do so if you can protect the one in power. The thought of Assaf and Iran is that If one cannot militarily defeat the enemy in this civil war, change their hearts and minds with a glorious win over the evil Israel.

Lets keep the War Index at 11 as the opening salvo has happenned!

TB - Two great points -

1 - The Mexican gov't lies about, well, everything, so expecting them to be truthful about the Pemex explosion would be extremely naive. When I was in college, an entire block of a Mexican city blew up due to negligence. The government lied about it. I was friends with a student from Mexico - the affected city was his hometown. I believe PEMEX was also involved with that little fiasco. There are many domestic actors who might attack PEMEX - it's corrupt as hell & has caused incredible environmental damage. It's possible that the Mexican government will be more truthful if they can tie the situation to a foreign actor.

2 - PKK certainly has experience w/ bombing Turkish targets, but would they do after the US Embassy? I don't know answer to that question BUT US has pretty good relations with Kurds - saved Iraqi Kurds from Saddam; Exxon is in middle of sensitive negotiations with Iraqi Kurdistan. I'm just not sure that Turkish Kurds (PKK) would go after US Embassy???

UPDATE - Just saw this -

Suicide bomb outside US embassy in Ankara - Bomber was member of leftist group DHKP/C. [link to soc.li]

Leftist group - probably still has friends in the FSB, right comrades?

Bombing the US embassy IS a new twist for PKK, but, back in the '90's they weren't all that happy with us OR Turkey. They weren't too happy with ANYONE back then. Our country hasn't been as supportive as they had promised, either. Gee, when have we promised allied indigenous people things and then, not delivered? (heavy sarcasm) We haven't followed through very well with them. For the PKK, that could be reason enough.

What you are basically saying, and I think you got a big point here, is, that Assad and Nasrallah need the nuclear umbrella of Iran to survive.
Syria is already getting torn apart, Hisb is certainly on the list.

In that light, it would make sense for Assad and Nasralla to open up the front and start a regional war:

1) to distract from the iranian nuclear breakthrough
2) to unite forces hoping to get some own breathing time
3) to get the arab friendly UN into the boat

[link to www.ynetnews.com]

Lebanon's official news agency reports that Israel warplanes have been flying over Nabatieh, al-Tufah, Marjayoun and Bint Jbeil in the south of the country since 9:30 pm.

According to the report, the planes are conducting "mock raids" over Lebanon.

WAR TENSIONS CONTINUE . . .
The Joys and fun these pilots must have scareing the crap out of the Hezbollah who are manning missiles as warplanes come buzzing by at low altitude!

BOOM!

Was just about to post that very thing, MM.

Could be an eventful evening - especially with them knowing the meetings that have already been scheduled.

Or, it could be simply to keep them on their toes, pushing them into making stupid mistakes.
Job 12:7) But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
8) Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

Generally, violating a neighbor's air-space, especially hostile airspace, not just for flyover but mock raids, with costs of pilot's lives, equipment and fuel, there is some fishy business happenning in and around the Hezbollah camps. I used to say Fridays seemed to be a good day for attack by the Hezbollah in the past, but someone chalelgned me on that and I refuse to go back into the books to look, but it is Friday er almost Saturday.

This Fordo thingly is still making me think.

We never knew if it really happened or not.
The US earthquake center showed a 5 plus event in that area.
The site is completly quarantained since then.

But what really happened ?

If it was bombed, with bombs such powerfull, how did they get there ?

A drone suicide attack ?
A kind of space weapon ?
An inside job ?
As a result of controlling their computer system ?

If it was bombed, and it looks like it was, there is more, much more behing this story ... .
