I checked in w/ my Egyptian friends this week (thank goodness). They are all in secure areas around Cairo. TSHF in Egypt now - we all saw it coming.

Here's what one of my Egyptian friends thinks of current unrest (he's just a civilian) but he's in Cairo & he's had good insight in the past.

man who knows right now...all assumptions on the North Korean's since the kid took over have been wrong...this is a whole new ball game and this Kid is making up the rules as he goes along, we can't even gameplan this rationally because the North Koreans are not rational players.

I said this in another thread but my gut tells me the next 48 hours are going to be tense at the very least.

I am trying to keep my blinders on likenthebrest of the world but it looks like China accidentally let the dog run off leashed and she is not able to get the dog back in the pen. Wonder if it was not an accident.

well...I'd say China has more problems than it cares to ever admit to...if they have the weight to throw around that so many suggest they do...why not take those islands they are disputing with Japan about and be done with it since they have nothing to fear apparently?

China just doesn't want a refugee crisis or the fighting spilling over into their territory. If the reports of the kid killing off so many of his dad's old advisors and people, he's obviously got a different way of looking at things which may not bode very well for anyone in southeast asia.

just a couple of quick comments...
The Chinese are distancing themselves from N Korea for a multitude of reasons.
An individuals as well as a populations deepest seated genetics require that self preservation be at the top of the list to ensure survival. Even that little worthless swinging dick understands that. He will try to be a badass and save face while convincing his people that he has us on the run. He has to make threats, not follow through with them to continue to be an effective leader where the news is controlled by the state and a glimmer of truth goes a long way.

A South Korean military official told the JoongAng Sunday that the North’s military appears to have readied 900 artillery guns for use.

Over the weekend, South Korean President Park Geun-hye was kept up to date on the situation by her yet to be appointed nominees to various ministerial positions. She was reported to be in touch with them around the clock.

Meanwhile, U.S. intelligence learned that some al Qaeda operatives were living in the northern Iranian town of Chalus, on the Caspian Sea.
In 2002 a U.S. Navy SEAL operation into Chalus was planned and then rehearsed somewhere along the U.S. Gulf Coast.

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Richard Myers, called off the assault because the information about where precisely the al Qaeda members were living in Chalus was not clear.

A year after that operation was called off, according to US and Saudi officials, from his Iranian refuge Saif al-Adel authorized al-Qaeda's branch in Saudi Arabia to launch a series of terrorist attacks in the Saudi kingdom that began in the capital Riyadh in May 2003, a campaign that killed scores of Saudis and expatriates.

On the face of it, the fact that a number of al Qaeda leaders and operatives and bin Laden family members found shelter in Iran is puzzling, as the Shia theocrats in the Iranian regime are hostile to the Sunni ultra zealots in al Qaeda, and vice versa.

N.Korea does not pick up the hotline phone anymore. In the daily test, just to see if it is working, no one in N.K. today answered the phone.
