Completely OT - Back to the gift that keeps on giving - Libya Sometimes even I am surprised... A form of H1N1 has broken out in Libya - al least 3 people have died in Derna [ link to www.libyaherald.com] Libya's sovereign wealth fund has lost at least $4B over the last 4 years & is beginning to withdraw funds from French Banks [ link to bloom.bg] And just in case we grow nostalgic for Gaddafi. His spy chief just admitted that Gaddafi held Lebanese Shia leader Musa Sadr for 3 years before turning him over to Gaddafi pal Abu Nidal for killing. Abu Nidal? [ link to www.libyaherald.com] Hi, Darby. Do you ever feel like we're in the middle of the biggest, knottiest ball of yarn ever!?! I really wonder who's moving the chess pieces and how do they keep track of them all? All these strange flu strains can't be natural, either. I began my university career as a Biochemistry major w/ concentration in genetics. It's a little odd the I ended up a Lawyer/CPA... Anyway, the interesting thing about this H1N1 strain (presuming its same one popping up in other parts of ME) is that it is a chimera - it's part bat virus, part pig virus, and very lethal to humans. That has caused some (on this site at least) to suppose it is bio-weapon BUT the way we humans have been messing w/ bio-engineering over the last 20 years, who knows? I stand corrected - the bat virus is a novel Corona virus that has been popping up in ME. The index patient was infected w/ both the corona virus & H1N1. Libyans are dying from a respiratory infection that local physicians think could be h1N1 (no genetic testing done yet)...
