I'm far from being a bomb expert so maybe one of the guys here has more knowledge about this stuff and can explain it to me?

There's a couple of things that really bother me about that bombing at the marathon.

1. Almost all of the victims suffered lower extremity injuries, indicating the bomb was lower than they were and the blast concussion traveled outward.


2. There is evidence that the bomb was filled with nails, ball bearings, etc. These are responsible for causing most of the injuries.

YET:

None of the windows in the buildings behind the bomb were blown out or even cracked.

The lamp post globes above the bomb remained intact.

Even the mailbox that the bomb was sitting next to remained intact.

And now they're claiming they've found pieces of the bomb on a ROOF?????

Because doing anything but ignoring them is a lose lose situation. We know why they are doing what they are doing based upon past performances. This time Obama or someone in his administration has decided to not reward bad behavior.

Yet the navy ships, radars and aircraft are still there, the BMD sites and mobile launchers are now being deployed as well. Seems like there should be news.

Without going into a lot of details. This IED was designed as most are to be what is called a shaped charge designed to send the explosion in a directed manner. That includes the shockwave which is what takes out most windows. Consider the IED's used in Afghanistan, they are placed on the edge of the road and the shaped charge directs its energy at vehicles travelling down the road. It would be a waste of energy for the explosion to be directed in 360 degrees when all they really need is to cover 90 or less degrees. They are going to find bits and pieces all over the place. As to why they find pieces on the roof, these pieces ricochet off curbs, the street, nearby obstructions etc and will travel in all directions. The globes are a very small target in a very large 3D space...they were just simply missed by any of the pieces of shrapnel. Hope this helps.

Here is some interesting intel...the Saudi national that was released by the FBI as not being connected to the bombing will be deported next Tuesday for "national security reasons".
