Breitbart is reporting that a source with intimate information about the events that happened on the ground in Benghazi the night the U.S. Consulate and the CIA annex was attacked by terrorists that, ultimately, only the President of the United States, or someone acting on his authority, could have prevented Special Forces either on the ground or nearby from helping those Americans who were under deadly assault.

That makes perfect sense if you understand the command-and-control structure of the Department of Defense and White House in these type of situations. The White House Situation Room would should have been intimately involved in the unfolding events in Libya.

So, what did the President know and what did the President do?

No one seems to know. Or no one is telling.

Keep in mind - on August 9th (one month before attack) - Mohammed Magarief was named President of the GNC - de facto President of Libya. HIs long-time associate Ali Zeidan was named PM. Both men have been long associated with the CIA. Both men were living in DC Area when Libyan uprising broke out. Both men have large families & their adult children & young grandchildren are US citizens.

SO - you've installed two CIA assets in Libya. Their government, and thus hold on power, is extremely shaky. Libyans can be dumb, but they ain't that dumb. They've noticed that most members of their new parliament have dual citizenship. (Majority of parliament members hold either US, UK or Canadian citizenship). They know new leaders of government have 30 year association w/ CIA.

If Obama had ordered US troops into action in Benghazi, what would the end result have been? Easy part - Magarief/Zeidan government would have immediately collapsed. How many US citizens associated with that government, people the CIA literally flew into Libya in August, 2011, would have died?

Here's the Wikipedia entry on the NFSL/Magarief-

Mohamed Yousef el-Magariaf, a former Libyan ambassador to India, founded the NFSL on 7 October 1981... The NFSL launched a wide campaign to topple the regime of Muammar Gaddafi in Libya, establishing a short-wave radio station, a commando military training camp and also published a bi-monthly newsletter, Al Inqadh (Salvation). According to various sources, the group was supported by the government of Saudi Arabia, and the United States' Central Intelligence Agency.

Obama made a tough call. He let a long-time CIA agent & some contractors die to keep CIA assets & their families safe. Asma al Magarief (President's daughter) has 4 children. All under the age of 8. All natural-born US Citizens. All were in Tripoli on the night of September 11th.

I've seen pictures of Asma's kids. Their lives have value too.

First let me tell you where I sit before I tell you where I stand. I have a dog in this fight. My comment would be so incredibly non politically correct that it is probably best I keep it to myself. I can only say that you can't justify bad behavior by pointing at other bad behavior. I do not know what the outcome of saving the lives of these four men might have been, but I also know there was a good chance their lives could have been saved. There was nothing "fair" about this exchange.
