Martin Dempsey, the U.S. chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said he has briefed President Barack Obama on options for military intervention in Syria, The Guardian reported on Thursday.

Dempsey told a Senate hearing that the options include no-fly zones, a ground invasion, drone attacks against al-Qaeda rebels, and missile strikes on key regime infrastructure, including chemical weapons sites.

He told the hearing that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad would still be in power for another year, as “currently the tide seems to have shifted in his favor.”

Obama had inquired whether Washington “could” intervene, not whether it “should,” Dempsey said. “The issue is under deliberation inside of our agencies of government.”

Algeria eliminates terrorist leaders

Looks like after the arab spring delusions, there are two schools shaping up:

1) the algerian school:
let the military be in control and crack down on terrorist.
members: algeria, maroc, egypt, syria, the gulf states and jordan (on the brink)

2) the tunesian school:
let them terrorist be in power and lets see what happens.
members: gaza, tunesia, "the west bank" whatever this is, jemen.

Irak and Iran are on a different page.
Irak because it was handed over to Iran by the US.
Iran, because they raided your embassies some time ago.

I am pretty sure an incoming president in the US does not have all the power at the beginning, maybe in the second term if he worked on it, he can change on basic long term strategy things.
