family and when tshtf
I've sadly come to the conclusion that when tshtf my family will end up being the death of me. My mom thinks FEMA camps are a means to help us.1rof1 I know in order to survive I should go off on my own, but I won't because I love my family. Anyone else in the same boat?

You could always organize an underground resistance movement from inside the camp, just sayin'.

Re: family and when tshtf
Buddy, I am tormented by the same thing.
An elderly Mother and Father, a wife who is completely oblivious to what is really going on, and worse of all, my 5 year old daughter.

Were it just me, I could say FRIG IT!!!!

But, I just cant do that.

I have never been as worried about my country, my freedom, and my little girls future, as I am right now.

Re: family and when tshtf
The fears people are having of a vicious police state suddenly arising that's bent on tortoring and murdering citizens in forced labor/reeducation camps seems far fetched to me. But if it ever happened I would expect we'd see alot of families do as Magda" Goebbels did to her familiy if they felt it was hopeless. My worry is that some people might go all Jim Jones and do it because they fear a threat that they have built in their mind but doesn't currently exist. We already had that fellow in the news who whacked his own family in Virginia or Maryland? cant remember? awhile back over fears of future events.

If you go to a camp you are as good as dead. You will be killed there. Elites want at least 98 percent depopulation.

Keep your research up and do your preparing in the background for your own peace of mind then live your life as normal and enjoy your family. There is nothing wrong with being prepared in case of a disaster, war on our soil or anything for that matter that threatens your freedom and right to live your life.

If by some chance something does affect you and your family, you will be in the position of authority because of your preparedness.

If by some chance that becomes something you must act upon and your family chooses not to follow you but instead put their faith in the system and people who they do not even know -

Then and only then will you have to make that hard decision.

In the meantime, your emotions and thoughts are just re-enforcing your need to live now - as we all should for time is all any of us have and right now is time.

Fear = future events that may or may not happen
Past = events already done and there isn't anything you can do about it.
Present = free will - that's all that is real and the truth - seize it!

I wonder if thats true. I see alot of people and they seem completely alien to me. They look different, smell different and I can't find any commonality with them and those are ones within my own race. If we were ever 'family" then more than a few of you must have been altered along the way.

Re: family and when tshtf
Having written some 900+ postings on this topic, I think I have a little knowledge on it.

The term SHTF or TSHTF can mean a lot of different things. It can mean a personal time when things seemed just awful like the death of a spouse, or it can mean a society has a weather related event of a large magnitude like the Tsunami in Phuket Thailand, or it could really mean an event that might be more than one society (even global) when there was a collapse of things like the supply chain of goods, a large EMP over a land mass, a pandemic like in the movie Contagion, etc.

A good prepper thinks about those things, but also knows that learning skills all of the time, like their ancestors did, and being a generalist or a "Jack of all Trades" as my Grandad called it, will make things easier.

Because every one of us will experience personal setbacks, besides having something happen like an accident or a bad weather situation, preparing for those kinds of things is very practical. It is very difficult to prepare for the end of the world, because it really hasn't happened yet.

There have been events like the Black Death in Europe and Asia, or the mini-Ice Age, since medieval times. There also was the Carrington Event with EMP from a solar flare within the last 150 years or so, or the Great Influenza Plague around the time of the WW1. Bad things happen cyclically, so preparing is also good to minimize their effects as best we can.

If FEMA camps exist, and I think they do, then most likely you won't live there long for logistical reasons. It costs a lot in materials to feed inmates. Unless the amount of prison labor offsets the costs in security personnel plus materials, then it's a loss to whoever is in charge.

If you knew that you were being rounded up, like the Jews, Gypsies, Russians, Trade Unionists, Gays, Catholics, etc were during WW2....would you go peacefully? It would be madness.

In more recent times women were tortured and raped in the Balkans. Going back further Armenians were similarly exterminated. In China there were massive purges as well as forced relocations in Russia to work on farms or outright imprisonment of political dissidents in Gulags. In the West and Canada as well as in Australia, native people were forcibly relocated. I think that's enough examples. Governments have done it in the past. They'll most likely do it again.

So, we're not conspiracy nuts, we're people who read history and shudder. Learning some skills is a very healthy way to prepare by growing your own food, learning to forage for it, but it also is as simple as learning how to repair a car or applicances, run electrical wiring, ride a horse, butcher a squirrel, dehydrate or can some food, etc. Basically these were commonly done by all people in all nations up until the 1920s or so. It was considered wisdom and prudent.

You can spend a lot of time in fear about FEMA Camps because of history and released documents about unscrupulous government officials and corporations. Even Eisenhower who helped build up the biggest military collaboration with corporations worried about the debacle he had created.

Spend an equal amount of time learning skills.

PS, as a young person, you might be interested in permaculture. It's a healthy lifestyle by neo-Hippies who are attempting to live closer to the land, and using old and new techniques. You might visit the permies forum for details, if you think you'd want to learn about such things as rocket mass stoves or creative waste management or Hugelkulture or simple things like less tilling of the soil. All of that is life affirming and some of the people are very beautiful. You might meet friends and potentially a spouse there.

Hahahaah I agree. Most prepper posts are about that. My topic is how to harvest wax from sumac berries, annual wax harvest from creating tallow from lambs, or making Native American or Mestizo cattail impregnanted rushlights from animal fat. No criso candles or alcohol stoves from me.

See the recent post about the Lucia woodstove. It's a high BTU stove that creates woodgas, biochar, and burns with less carbon monoxide than a forced air gas furnace, and is cheap too. Something like that should be in every prepper household since it could keep people from freezing to death. Imagine if the people in New York still struggling the hurricane had them? Fancy that, FEMA actually knowing the technology that's available, not vaporware.

Yeah, it's a serious bunch of postings. Recently I discussed sensors, relays, solenoids, and programmable logic controllers. All important information in electronic theory for people to use post-collapse to maintain society. Tomorrow I'm doing an article on teamwork, probes, and not assuming but communicating during an exchange.

It's not at all like most SHTF prepper posts.

There is fix for them freedom loving "ideas"
How far should doctors go in attempting to cure addiction? In China, some physicians are taking the most extreme measures. By destroying parts of the brain’s “pleasure centers” in heroin addicts and alcoholics, these neurosurgeons hope to stop drug cravings. But damaging the brain region involved in addictive desires risks permanently ending the entire spectrum of natural longings and emotions, including the ability to feel joy.

Look, my friends. What's coming down the pike is inevitable.
It will happen, but we don't know when.
Know, my situation in this hellhole is slightly because of the black hordes...
On the run with a wife and 2 little kids is not an option for me.
Saving the last few rounds for us, is.
