Question for USMC0369....

Do you rate with double-action revolvers?
Do you shoot at any rating you may have with Magnum revolver of .44mag or .454mag (or heavier) with DA only trigger manipulation?

How do you handle DA Magnum revolver trigger pull? Straight through or by using DA as a 2 stage pull. IE with hard pull to revolve cylinder, then feathering the last few ounces of pull?

Do you have same rating score with 10mm Auto and .45acp chambered pistols?

All mechanical devices can be subject to breakage of parts or mechanisms. Why would you choose to carry or even use a pistol which has NO Manual Safety feature, other than an empty chamber???

"I carry a Glock-19 But would not recommend one for a novice shooter do to the safe action trigger."

Just wondering what your reasoning behind this... I would absolutely recommend the Glock 19, or a glock of any name to a beginner. The safe action trigger has no downfall for someone who is learning in my opinion (I have about as much experience to call on as the OP). Beyond that the Glock is simply the best option for a combat pistol out there. Easy to manipulate, interchangable parts, hexagonal rifling etc. I cant think of any reason whatsoever that it would not be suitable for someone learning to shoot. The safe action trigger is a great feature. When I started shooting Glock it in no way whatsoever affected my shooting.

Do you agree that the easy way to convert an anti-gun person is to simply take them out shooting with you and teaching them the basics? Unfortunately I don't have many people to take shooting with me but this seems to be the case and seems like the best way to show them what they really don't know.

Yes I do I have knew a few ant-gun people change their opinion after going to the range, but I know of more changing there opinion after they were a victim of a crime.

I am a female and I am considering a CCW permit, but with the new legislation on firearms being considered that is incredibly draconian; and with the county I am moving to being very strict on who can get a CCW permit, I am not sure this is possible.

So my question is, barring being able to get the CCW permit, what is my best course of self defense? The area I am going to be attending evening classes is known to be quite dangerous. The campus has also have not implemented adequate security measures.

How effective do you consider .22LR for self defense at a distance of 100yds or less, specifically high velocity hollow points? Many consider it as a plinking round or for varmint hunting, yet ballistics tests on these hollow points have shown similar expansion and penetration to a .38.
 Quoting: Generation Doom

I love shooting my Ruger 10/22. It is a great range gun, and a great Survival gun do to the fact that ammo is cheap and you can carry a lot of it on you. If I had my choice I would want something with more take down then the 22,

but on that note it the proper hands and with well-aimed shots it can be lethal.

Re: I知 a NRA Pistol / Rifle Instructor ask me any question you like
Many people who have reached 40 years old tend to find that their eyesight has changed. Like me, many have gradually become far sighted. This has made it harder to focus on the front sight(When in a fight, front sight)which is the way I have always aimed my pistol.

I have recently switched to focusing on the target more and have found while my bullet grouping has expanded to about a 6" diameter at 25 yards, I find that it is much more comfortable.

Do you have any words of advice, I would rather not wear readers while shooting.
 Quoting: Uninterested3rdParty

What I teach when I知 teaching CQC or CQM is the fowling.
When you are in a life or death situation and in Close Combat just look over your front sight and put it on the top of the chest of your threat.

In situations like that you don稚 have time to use proper sight alignment. You need to get lead down range fast. It does not matter if you hit the top, middle or the bottom of the threat as long as you hit it. You are shooting at an area target at that point and not at a point target.

If you are only shooting to protect yourself I say keep shooting that way when you practice, but try to shoot with both eyes open. If your shooting for the x ring every time, I would say get a Quick reflex sight on your weapon, because you will never hit the x ring by starring at the target.

Not true with the proper training and mindset a women can shoot a much bigger handgun then a 22. The 22 is a great starter to learn the fundamentals and not be afraid to shoot, but I recommend moving up to at least and 32 Auto or a 380.

I知 a NRA Pistol / Rifle Instructor ask me any question you like

A Little bit about my back ground. I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps and spent another 6 years working as a Commando and a Weapons instructor for the Iraq, and Afghanistan Commando痴. Furthermore I'm a T-3 Certified Weapons Instructor for the US Government. I知 all so a NRA Pistol / Rifle / Refuse To Be A Victim Instructor and an NRA range Safety Officer.

A few more of my instructor certifications are OC Spray instructor, ASP Instructor, Handcuff Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, DOD RSO / OIC Certified, Ant-terrorism Instructor, First Observer Instructor, Small Arms Weapons expert (SAWE) and a few more that I知 not listing.

Ask me any question about Firearm safety, safe operations, and self-defiance and I will do my best to answer you. I will check in once a day to answer all of your questions.

Here is a free pointer for every one out there that likes to shoot. If you use these four fundamentals every time you will always hit what your aiming at.

4 fundamentals of Shooting

1) Steady Position
2) sight Alignment / sight Pitcher
3) Breathing Control
4) Trigger Pull / Squeeze

Each state as different laws about transporting firearms. You should call your local Sheriff痴 department and ask them. For most states you have to have the unloaded firearm locked in a gun case and the ammo locked in a separate gun case or ammo box. Most state want you to have the Firearm up in your trunk and out of reach also.

Mr/Ms Instructor....

Don't shoot revolvers? No NRA revolver contests anymore?

No opinion on Double-Action versus Single-Action mechanisms or trigger pull techniques?

Any opinion on cartridge effectiveness/reliability?

Do you shoot J-frame or K-frame short barrel .357mag with factory magnum loads as effectively as the light-pistol rounds which are .30cal to .40s&w?

Do you shoot same scores with 10mm auto or .45acp that you do with 9mm or .40s&w?

Do you shoot double-action magnums from 4" or under hideout class revolvers with same quickness and precision as 9mm para, etc?

Do you hold Master or High Master designation?

To be an "NRA Instructor" are you required to achieve a competitive ranking or designation?

The old adage is: Those that can, do; those that can't; teach.

Were you an accomplished competitor or one who has been schooled to "teach" the NRA course for rifle and handgun marksmanship and safety?
