Whoohoo, I just ran my payroll for January and although some rates went up, ei and cpp, my tax rate went down and I'll be bringing home an extra $5 on each paycheque this year.

This has nothing to do with Bush tax cuts, but rather with the temporary 2% social security tax break for employees which was enacted in 2011 end extended into 2012.

Sorry, it's just the opposite. Here in the States, we get paid two weeks (or one month) AFTER we've already earned it. That's why starting a job is so traumatic, you instantly lose your Unemployment, but you don't get paid until you've been there for two weeks or longer. Even people who do get paid on a weekly basis (fewer and fewer because it is too much paperwork) usually have to wait for two weeks for their first check. So you will get bupkus for income while all of your "outgo" continues, or even expands as you must come up with gas to get to work, lunchmoney, and possibly a uniform for your new job. Oh, and dues if you have been hired at a Union job.

American employers may be many things, but they are not dummies! They will DEFINITELY make sure that they get the work out of you before you get paid!

OK.....once for the German.....you get taxed on the day you get your paycheck....even though she worked the last two weeks in 2012....she got paid in 2013 and the new taxes apply to the pay you receive in 2013.....regardless that you worked for it in 2012. In the US you get paid the week AFTER you work.....not the last day of the pay period ends....K

OMG......someone that totally gets it

LOL...the only time you get your pay check on the last day of your pay period is if they fire you....then you get your LAST paycheck as they are walking you to the door and tell you your out.

I have had my own business for 35 years.....I have had people come and go but I have taken zero pay to keep everyone else paid and working.....I have 5 of my 7 guys with me since they started working for me....two for the 35 years since I opened.
I am very proud of the people that work for me and for being a honest employer

I warned everybody I knew this was coming and to free up approximately 500 a month.

Nobody believed me. I was called paranoid, racist, idiot, and a few other things.


That 1612 needs to be multiplied by 2 if your spouse works. Also don't forget about the SS tax expiring and the 1 trillion in new Obama Care taxes.

If you and your spouse make a combined income of 60-100k you will be forking over about $444.66 extra a month according to my calculations.


But don't fret. Come 2014 the new Obama Care payroll tax hits and it will round that number up to around $500.00.


And then 2015 all the coal plants will have to be shut down so your electric bill will be 700% higher in many states.
But don't listen to me. Proof is in the paycheck and on your bills.

When I was younger and had my first child there was enough money for rent/bills/food and hardly anything left , why keep moaning , I was a very young mum in the 80's and both my partner and myself worked , he worked all day then I would go out to work evenings......we had very little but accepted it , when I listen to people thesedays they really annoy me.....think they should have mobile phones/Sky/holidays etc....bloody hell!!! I was ecstatic with a takeaway once a month if I was lucky.......seriously most people just expect too much , normal working class folks dont have all the trappings of luxury so get over it.....or go to college and educate yourself to the standard of the polititions and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.....

That sucks dude, we get paid on Friday; well my Hubby gets paid. NOT looking forward to the numbers :( Good luck onthe belt tightening. I don;t know about you, but we are running out of tightening places to go. We are down tot he basics here; Utilities, rent, transportation (not a car payment), food and those insurances. Come the mid term elections the house will be swung over to the liberals as they promise via the news outlets to restore peoples money. Money is the root of all greed and evil.

People will sell out their country for a few hundred dollars...and do as the press tells them to do. They will vote in a new Congress and the liberals will be in total control to get their money back on their paychecks because that is easier then budgeting their money.

The game will be in check mate with the Republican party dead and wiped off the face of the map.

Mine is now about $30 less per week, but I also got a 2% on top of that so that would make it effectively about $50 a week less.

mans I just gots me a letter a saying my food stamps going up $62. That works out well now then dont it.
