Doubt it, back then men knew how to be men and we actually loved our country. Today we love the new iphone and are "destroyed" when our 4G internet is down.

Yes you are correct, only a very small percentage of the colonials participated directly in the war. Many more did support the war with donations though. Things like arms, draft animals, carts and wagons, foods and drinks. Not to mention the amount of spying documented in the war was quite interesting. There are many more ways to fight a war than just standing in front of an enemy and pulling a trigger. only 2% of American's have served in the Military....Yes, that is an accurate number. The population of the colonies was around ~3,000,000 (roughly the current population of Denver, CO), and it is estimated that between three and five percent of that population were actively involved (not at all discounting the passive involvement/ assistance mentioned above). This translates to somewhere in between ~90,000 ~150,000 actively engaged during the Revolutionary War. Our current population is ~330,000,000, with a greater half of that concentrated in the more major incorporated areas.
