| Anonymous Coward User ID: 7138989 01/02/2013 06:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | actually the real problem with tobacco is that what we have now are strains of tobacco that do not have the antidepressant harmaline which shamanic tobacco does. Besides that.. it's never naturally air cured or non fermented and you can never find that unless you grow it yourself. BUT besides that.. one should not smoke in excess obviously. Smoking interferes with digestion, can deplete your vitality shortly after smoking excess.. that should be enough. In fact.. really the "real" tobacco toke should only be about 1-4 puffs a day (unless you're doing some kind of shamanic ritual). It interferes with digestion, your kidneys, dries out the water passages in the body, etc. etc. Then of course it can cause inflammation etc. etc. |

I know because I went through the shit myself. The best way to quit it seems for me is to start a new day fresh where you dont even touch the stuff. That or on the very last day of smoking you smoke like one cig more or less and then hold off on smoking anymore until the next day where you can start a new day fresh and you would have less cravings than if for example the day before you were smoking like a chimney. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 7138989 01/02/2013 06:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | here's another also: you can take notice how tobacco affects the breathing and heartrate. Tobacco does cause the heartrate to alter until it has been fully metabolized. So wait until you feel that all the tobacco in the body has been metabolized, you're heartbeat wouldn't feel so irregular and your breathing wont feel so constricted. Then maybe it'll get easier.. or it'll open up a new reason to feel that craving (ie, my lungs feel better, I feel less tired.. which means I can start smoking again etc) ... so hold off on the cigs until after these stages just a bit more then it should get easier. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 28837935 01/02/2013 06:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I started smoking in my teens, encouraged by my mom (Yep.) Quitting was wonderful...it took patience and time, but soon I lost all cravings for cigarettes. You have to get those people who are a negative influence away from you as much as possible, take vitamins and get lots of fruits & vegetables. Put away any major projects and goals for awhile... Take up a simple hobby (one that wont' frustrate you) that keeps your hands very busy - simple origami, knitting, crochet, sewing, model making, computer games...I found most of my addiction was a "hand needing to do something" addiction...and get snacks like carrot sticks, pretzels, celery and dip that sort of mimic cigarettes... You'll start to feel healthier, smell things, and feel better and more relaxed. Wash all your clothes, sheets and open up windows to get your home fresh and clean so you can enjoy it as your sense of smell returns... the worst is over in a couple weeks... |
| abeliever User ID: 17868616 01/02/2013 07:00 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Smoking doesn't relieve stress... quitting does! Quoting: Texas2012 Study proves benefits of nicotine are a myth Researchers found ex-smokers were less anxious. It is yet another reason to keep that New Year’s resolution about giving up smoking. Contrary to popular perception, smoking does not relieve stress. But quitting does. [link to www.dailymail.co.uk] I myself am currently struggling with quitting! I've been a smoker for 10 years, and I'm ready to QUIT!!! Unfortunately I havent even made it a whole day yet! Anyone else...?! I'm ready to be able to say 'I haven't had a ciggerette in a month, or a year, ect!! Any ex-smokers have some input!?! Or advice on quitting!! Yes. I am one. I quit 30 years ago. There is only one person who can help you do this (other than God) and he is in Brookline, Massachusetts (Boston). Phone# 617-232-3930. His name is Yefim Shubenstov. Google his name. He is famous. He is known as the mad Russian. He's a very nice and caring man. It worked for me and my friends. At Mass General Hospital, his name is on the triage check list. He's amazing. If you booked an apt now, you wouldn't get to see him for 6 months. It's worth every penny. He changed my life in one day. No desire to smoke at all. I got tired of feeling tired and burning clothes from shooting sparks. It was that frustration that made me book an apt. Go for it. I used to like smoking with coffee or a glass of wine. Now, 30 years later, I can't believe I ever cared for such a thing! It was fashionable back then. Yuck. |
