Judge Thomas Lipps who presided over the hearing in November which would decide if the juveniles would be tried as adults or juveniles in which he ruled they would be tried as juveniles stated he “(still) considers the charges serious and they cannot be taken lightly.” Then went on to say he “looked at three factors to make his decision: the age at the time of the alleged offense, the seriousness of the alleged crime and prior attempts of rehabilitation in the juvenile legal system.” [source]

The seriousness of the alleged crime?! I don’t know about the judge, but I can say that I consider the kidnapping, gang rape of an unconscious minor whom they later urinated and defecated on all while videotaping then distributing the video and still shots of the assault online and via cellphones pretty damned serious.
