IssueX User ID: 14348632 United States 01/03/2013 05:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sorry to hear you are about to part ways ... for now. i lost my beloved Cocker Spaniel 6yrs ago next month. i knew i was loosing her and at 15yrs old, it took her 4days to pass. she was surrounded by love as she died in my arms. my Sister also flew in to be with us as she crossed over. During those 4days, the only water she drank is what i gave her with a turkey baster. i would fill her mouth and she would drink that way till she had enough. she ate no dog food those last four days. each day i found one thing she would eat. tuna fish one day, waffles WITH syrup and butter another, pizza yet another, and I do not remember the fourth thing. it was at the point where if it gave her enjoyment and she could muster the appetite to eat it ... she got it & i am so glad she did. I also made a palet and slept on the floor with her. she scooted just as close as she could to me. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9589803 My point is this, make the most of the remaining time you have in whatever way you know how. You have honored your dog's memory by sharing what the two of you are going through right now. God Bless you both ... thank you all for your nice post and yes I´m going to sleep at floor level so he can be safe and close to me all night... I put him on my bed but he insist to be down in his pillow so I arrange my blanket on the floor thanks to all 3 weeks ago I cradled my 15 year old persian kitty as she passed , and I held her as she transitioned, looking in her eyes, and we told her that we loved her and thanked her for all the happiness and love she had brought into our lives I just kept petting her head and letting her know how grateful I was for the tim we spent, and even after she stopped moving, I could see light in her eyes. I know that the soul remains with the body even when it appears they are gone...and hearing is the last function to go I sgree it seems so unfait that their lives are so short compared to ours...but they are pure love. They are only here to love, I cannot comprehend how people can hurt them the way they do sometimes. You are very lucky to be able to feel OP, and to be able to appreciate this kind of friendship, there are many who do not feel and can't understand even your pain right now... There are no words which can fill the hurt and emptiness when a friend like that passes, but posters here are right. When you can, bring a new puppy or dog into your life. The cycle continues and you can bring love to another pet's life |

They have a heart as big as 10 men. They shame us with their patience, love, and loyal integrity. Your dog will forever be missed. Remember him always as a gift from God specifically to you, Feru. I am tearing up -- my eyes are leaking... :-( I am sure you are too and your heart is breaking... so sad. :-( Your doggie, Gringo loco... he love you much forever. |
KonaCoffee User ID: 21922850 United States 01/03/2013 06:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I JUST got a dog, a sort of rescue in a way, from a friend. He suspected that the people he was staying with were mistreating his little shih tzu while he was at work, and I had always told him, "If you ever find yourself needing a home for her, I'm right here.". Well, I got her on Saturday. She's only two, but I'm in pure LOVE! We also have an old pit mix, she's faithful and loving as well. She's almost 11, and already showing signs of getting a little bit slower. She's more my husband's dog, but man oh man, when it's her time things are going to be real real bad around here. Still, it's worth that bit of pain for all the joy she brings to us. Bless your heart, Feru, so many of us understand and are sorry you are heartbroken. |

I'm grateful that mine are still young. I fear having to part with them one day. Be strong. Give your dog lots of affection and feed it a nice juicy steak before it goes to jupiter. |

It hurt so much and still does, the look on her face on that final day when she knew what was coming will haunt me for the rest of my life. I'll never replace her because I couldn't bear to see a little goldie puppy running around my house. |

About a week after we lost our beloved doggie, we were sitting in the living room reading when we heard him bark. We turned to one another and asked, did you just hear what I heard, one last goodbye bark. He came to let us know he was ok and in a better place. It comforted us to hear him that one last time. My heart goes out to you. Give your doggie an extra hug from me tonight and one for you as well. When my dog was alive he would come to my bed right after I got in and would lick my check or give me a poke in the side to say goodnight to me. I would then pet his head. It was his ritual. After he died I have felt something nudge my check or my side several times right after I lay down on . It's as if he visits from time to time to tell me he'll be waiting at the bridge. Wishing you the best. It's such a hard thing to go through - losing a wonderful, special friend. But just know, you will see him again. |

I feel like crying just thinking of what you're going through right now, but when they are that old and sick you will feel a sense of relief that they are no longer in any pain. Hang in there. |

The thing about dogs is you form a real bond with them that is friendship. I agree it is a horrible thing to have your beloved friend who loves you unconditionally die and have felt the same thing too many times. I have a tortoise that I have had for 20 years and I know will outlive me, but there is no real bond other than he comes to me because he knows I am who provides for him. I do have some feelings for him as a living thing but when he dies I doubt I will actually cry like I did when 3 dogs of mine died. Two lived to be 18 and 20 and the other was poisoned at age 7. |

He lives day by day but actually recover most of his personality. He Can´t walk well but makes the effort. The good thing is that he eats and poo ok. He is like the Highlander. I did told him that day when he was very ill, that is OK if he is ready to go, I´m ready to let him go. We sleep together in the floor for 3 days because I was afraid he fell from bed. Today he woke me up with his typical funny face really close to me. I know his time is close but goshh he really makes his best effort to be well so I have to give my best effort to keep him well and spend the most time I can with him. Thanks for prayers and good vibes he is tired but feels better I know he will go soon, but at least Today was a good day for both of us. Thanks guys Enki was the real engineer of the human race.
