Re: What is the best country to live in right now?
I have always lived in the United States, and it isn't the place I want to grow old and raise children. But I know a lot of countries aren't a lot better either. So where is the best place to live? Where is there the least hate? Where is there a safe economy? How do you feel about your country?

What is the Netherlands like right now?
 Quoting: Kydofusa

Bad, we have two parties that is the leader of the National Government of the Netherlands, Christian Democratic party (VVD)and Labour party (PvdA)that are working together. VVD is the party of which the Dutch priminister Mark Rutte is the leader od the Dutch National Government biggest one that is situation in the middel more to the right side. But, PvdA is the one tht really to the right side like a 1meter ruller, is nearly at 90cm, but VVD is at about 55cm. So now in the Dutch parliment is not VVD Mark Rutte that can pass any of the Dutch government policy.

Thank You!

It's a global world, nowadays.

No running. There are other options.

Probably Hungary, or the Czech Republic.

Maybe Uruguay, although it seems to be getting more Socialistic and Commie by the day.

Poland might be OK, come to think of it. All their crims and chancers have migrated to the UK.

Ecuador once again received International Living's best coutry to retire to. I love Ecuador- from the Andes mountains to the incredible beaches. The rainforest is beyond amazing- and the fact that you can drive in one day to all 3 areas make it a unique and incredible area.

Plus, they are fairly organic, everything is fairly inexpensive, and people are friendly. The food is plentiful, unique, and generally healthy. There aren't a lot of pre-packaged items, and things are usually made same day.

It is GENERALLY safe- especially in Cuenca (where most Americans live) and smaller towns. However, there is a VERY REAL danger when leaving these areas (which is necessary for airports, American food, etc). Statistically, you are safer there than in many major cities in US.

But, the difference is simple: if I am kidnapped or assaulted here, when I call 911 I can trust that the responding officers will help me. At very least they won't be part of the attack. That is the biggest difference that I see between here and there. The crime may be the same, but knowing that you have no one to call for help while in Ecuador is horrifying.

Nonetheless, To me- the risks vs. benefits in Ecuador is close. I still intend to make Cuenca my primary home and raise my children there. The feeling of community is strong and the people there amazing.

America is the best country to live in.

Unfortunately the GOVT has made it almost unbearable.

The government? Be more specific. The House of Representatives.
