535 is one sick, pathetic wannabe. Like one of the real power players would give him the time of day.
Yet, here is is, day after day, typing away on GLP like some kind of Moses parting the red sea.
Hell, he even spends more time here than I do, and my life is pathetically boring!
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31297288 Correct. This is not worthy of any "power player" nor Moses.
There is only the need for understanding what motivates this line of thinking. As such, would you or anyone else be willing to answer a few questions?
I will.If you were given the power, how would you rewrite the federal laws regarding firearms?
I am one of the the people, a citizen, the highest political office in the land. I have no desire to step down in power to be a legislator.Assuming the public's Second Amendment interpretation were up to you, how would you word it?
It is up to me, and it is worded just fine.
What, if anything, would hypothetically motivate you or your friends to shift from a position of political resistance to political acceptance?
Political resistance? To the very law I am sworn to uphold and protect? NOTHING, it is not the legislators role, duty or job to alter the law of the land, that power is up to the people, not the government. What would you consider a major event in the near future that could theoretically soften your position on the banning or registration of firearms?
It is a physical impossibility to ban a machine that can be produced with technology that has been around for hundreds of years. Writing words on paper will not change the reality that guns are here. It would take a supernatural even to change that, not legislation. If, for example, Illinois passed a law like the one in the initial portion of the thread, would you ever consider violent resistance?
It would not be a "law" it would be null and void before it was even written. Until and unless the Constitution is changed, it is the supreme law of the land, end of discussion. And even then, the physical reality of guns is not going away.Would you or anyone you know consider "violent resistance" as justified?
Violent resistance to what, words written on some paper by some corporations employee? No violence needed, ignore it, just like everyone ignores speed limit signs and other magical words written on paper. What actions do you believe, if any, would have to be taken by the Federal Government of the United States in order to cause a "violent reaction"?
Self defense is a right of all men, the fact the criminal being defended from is an employee of the Corporate US is irrelevant. What do you believe constitutes a "good" firearms law vs. one that is not?
Sure, one that restricts the use of any tool of violence from Government thugs is a good one. What opinion, if any, do you have regarding the NFA legislation?
Do not really care, pay 200 $ and get suppressors or machine guns, that is why it is not a law, if you can buy your way out of it, its no law at all.If the NFA was modified or amended, would you consider breaking that law if the same minimum penalties applied for automatic weapons or destructive devices?
The NFA does apply to automatic weapons and destructive devices, all of which can be had for a minimal fee for a tax stamp. You do not seem to know what the NFA is. Also, there is no provision for it to be amended, congress would have to pass new legislation. Yes, I consider the NFA a violation of the Constitution, but that is nothing new for the Federal Government since Abe L at least. You answers are appreciated in advance.
Thank you very much!
